Confusing sensation...

Helluva first post, i guess:

i'm 33 now and have been largely symptom-free from Crohn's since I was DXed at 13 via colonoscopy/biopsy. I've had minor flare's here and there, but by and large, i've been fine.

in the last week i've had some sensations in my rectum/anus region that i've never felt before- it feels like something is hanging out/leaking/the anus isn't closing all the way. i've checked and nothing is actually coming out, but this is accompanied by a feeling of needing to move my bowels, however, when i actually go try, there's nothing but gas and disappointment.

finally i went to the doctor (urgent care) and he examined me and did a digital rectal exam and said everything looked fine and that he felt internal hemorrhoids.

i have no bleeding and no pain, just this weird bothersome sensation.

question is: will the sensation go away? will the 'rrhoids resolve? what can i do to speed up the process?

i guess i've been lucky all these years compared to many with IBS, but any advice would be appreciated.

Hemroids do not go away, and the sensation is a bit weird at first. As long as it does not get bigger, then dealing with that sensation is just part of the deal. I am the same age and I was super embarrassed to admit to anyone, including my spouse, that I was suffering from this. I use the Prepration H wipes when I go to the bathroom, and it seems to numb it for the most part.

Wow, really? So i just deal with it?

Well the reality is that with this disease comes a lot more obsticles that we were not prepared for. There are probably many things that we deal with on a daily basis when it comes to Crohn's. I do know that if the hemroids get too bad there is options for surgery to repair the blood vessel. I know it may have sounded a bit insensitive to say "deal with it", but I guess it is just how I get through my days when I have severe pain from the "roids" or the Crohn's. It does suck to have to deal with such major issues at our young age.

there isn't any pain at all. there's just the sensation that i have to crap. i was thinking i could do something to help reduce the swelling and thereby, the sensation.

Hiya!
Try to stay away from junk foods, oily, sweet things, cold beverages.
Eating greens, citrus and how about applesauce, plenty of fluids & warm beverages to try and help move things along? It might help.

It might not be 'roids' could be skin tags, very common with CD. Neither seem to go away.
People with CD need to be a bit careful with removal of roids/tags, best to talk to a CRS (colon rectal specialist) for any removal of anything in that region.
Hope you get back to feeling better!

yeah, i have to get a scope. been like 6 years since my last one. problem is, my deductible is $2000 (thanks kaiser) and the procedure is $250 AFTER i hit my deductible. Had i been thinking, i would have gotten it done last year after i had my appendectomy in august.
