I tried to cry my way out of it, but 6mp is now for me.

After a gruelling day with the doctors, which produced many tears on my behalf, and plenty of tissue offering and hand holding on their behalf Im now a 6mp taker. Im so sad. I reallllly didnt want to take this step.

I know its not the end of the world, but it feels like it is. Feel free to send me virtual hugs and messages of support. Or wine. Wine would be appreciated too.

I know how you feel MissD. I was so sad the day I had to start my son on 6mp, I would have much rather taken it myself honestly.

But, it has brought my son back. He feels good and is in remission. Now I hope he can stay on it as long as possible. He is a completely different kid now that he is feeling well. I really hope things go as well for you. ((((((Hugs))))))

Let us know how you are getting along.

How are you feeling these day, MissD? It's been about three weeks since your initial post. How do your labs look?

Is 6mp the same as Azathioptine? I started 50mg two weeks ago!

I'm not familiar with Azathioptine. On Budesonide, and multiple meselamine.

Not the same, but in the same family.

Actually, azathioprine is converted into mercaptopurine (6mp) in the body, so the active ingredient is the same.

Hi Mehita

I have another thread happening somewhere detailing my horrific ten day hospital stay. Apart from that, it looks like its going ok for me!

Glad to hear it's going well MissD!

I took 6mp for about 2 years and it worked really well for me! I was so close to remission! Unfortunately, I screwed it all up because I missed taking it for about 2 weeks.
(if I don't have sickness reminding me I'm sick, I don't remember I need medication. I'm not fit for a chronic condition!).

In conclusion, don't miss a ton of doses and hopefully it'll keep you well for a long time to come!
