Pregnant, tired, fed up

Hi all, I've only ever posted here once a few years ago but felt the need to come back as it's the only place I think I can rant and people won't roll their eyes!

I've had Crohns for 10 years now, since I was 14-15. Over the last 5 years or so I've generally been quite lucky. I've never had to have surgery and my flare ups have been far less frequent than they were during the first five years. When they're there, they're bad, but they're few and far between.

The downside to this is the lack of understanding when I am feeling rough. Because I usually seem so "healthy", people seem to just think I'm exaggerating when I'm exhausted or have a one-off bad few days.

At the moment I'm 4 months pregnant. My last 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage because I was flaring up during both but I've been told to stick at my medication during this one and so far the pregnancy seems to be going fine. Yesterday I woke up to familiar Crohn's cramps and when I went to the bathroom I had some bleeding and mucus. Nothing too terrible, but enough to make me worry. I'm also exhausted (not sure whether it's the pregnancy, Crohn's or both) and aching all over. I called in sick for work and as expected my absence was received with a huff and a puff.

I'm just so fed up of being made to feel guilty or like I'm exaggerating about something I have very little control over. I was really upset this morning after phoning work and my partner wasn't much help. I find that most "healthy" people just don't understand why things like this would get you down.

Sorry for the rant, I just feel like I could explode right now (if I only had the energy!)

You poor thing I do feel your pain so your not alone. Congrats on the pregnancy keep your spirits high you going to be a mummy ❤️. I have one son that's five and I'm pregnant 21 weeks to be exact with my second. I'm on lots of meds at the moment cause I'm going through a pretty bad flare also and bleeding when I have bowel motions, my specialist put me on a small dose of prednisone 7.5 and 1 mg pentasa daily on top of my other meds. See your specialist and see if u need to be adjusted with medications. What I learnt from my last pregnancy is stay on your medications, big mistake not being on them cause I resulted in a major flare so bad that I had bowel surgery when my son was 8 months. I've had 3 surgerys so far. But stick to your meds and always stay on top of the crohns expecially while pregnant . All the best and be patient it will get better xx

Thank you! I've been trying to get to see my consultant but the secretary told me I'd have to wait until November! Terrible.
I'm going to keep up with the meds for now, perhaps I'll be able to get a phone call from him to advise me or something.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Best of luck you you x
