Yikes, c diff infection but needing antibiotics

Holding It Together
My daughter had a bad case of c diff last month. She currently still has c diff positive stool but is asymptomatic - formed soft stools, not diarrhea or pain. She also happens to have an infected blood clot that they are treating inpatient with IV vancomycin. In discharge planning, the docs are planning to give her oral clindamycin, which is notorious for activating c diff. To counter that risk, they want to give her flagyl. Has anyone else been in this situation and not gotten a reactivation of c diff?

Have you considered going into the section designated Crohn's Disease and C Diff support group?/ Sending support and prayers.

don't forget to ask/tell your doc about fecal microbiota transplants, they have been fda approved for recurrent c diff, with 90-100% efficacy rate. frozen stool from donor bank can be shipped to perform it. its new so many doc's arent entirely familiar yet, you may have to finda place that will do it but chances are good.
