Pain around stoma?

Hi guys over the last few days I've noticed a bit of pain around my stoma. (actually its probably been there for a long time tbh) Seems like some sort of muscle pain. The stoma itself is fine and doesn't hurt. But the surrounding area especially like the bottom right towards my groin/pelvis area is tender to touch and can hurt a bit when I move. I've also got what seems to be a pulled muscle in my groin area towards the top of my right leg which is also a bit painfull when I walk and bend my leg. Anyone every had anything like this? Could it just be some form of torn/pulled muscle? there's no visible signs of anything like a hernia. And I'm not having any tummy pains/cramps as such to suggest its anything bowel related.

just to add i have also noticed a bit of pain at night time whilst im lied on my back, i can only describe it as a sort of pulling sensation to the side of my stoma site. a bit weird really

Martin, to be on the safe side, I would ring the stoma nurse. Have you noticed any redness or tenderness around your stoma?

My parastomal hernia started ever so slowly. And Ollie grew and grew. Are you wearing a support belt? It may not be a hernia of course, all the same, stoma nurse time!!

I wouldn't say there's any redness other than where the bag sticks to my skin but it is tender to touch. Im not wearing a support belt no but i guess ill try and get hold of one. Think ill give them a ring in the morning

Aye, will do. Got me worrying I have a Hernia now ;) lol.

Tbh when i saw a crohns specialist about 2 weeks ago when he was checking and sort of pressing my stomach there was a lot of tenderness but he didn't say anything in the letter i later received other than it was unexplained tenderness.

Well the pain seems to have gone over the past day. I was naught and went to a chinese buffet on saturday... is there a possibility that a partial blockage of some sort could cause this sort of pain?

Yeah, I'd say that's very possible. The only time I have had a similar pain to what you describe was when I ate a fairly big portion of mushrooms and they casued immense pain on the way out, and the tenderness around my stoma was easy to see and feel.

After they came out, no problem at all. Since then I have made sure I chew mushrooms extensively when I eat them!

However, if this keeps happening, I'd have a chat with the stoma nurse.

I agree, it couldve been a partial blockage. (I love Chinese as well Martin!)

Or constipation? But I am happy to hear it's better now! Whew!
