Help im suffering

Hello, this is my first time using this website or any website really to get in touch with others who might be in the same position as me.

Let me start by saying it hasn't been too long since i was diagnosed with crohns, it all started a little over a year ago for me, daily pain where i had to curl into a ball no matter where i was, outdoors, home, at the mall, whereever i would just lay down in fetal position on the floor and wait till the pain went away, doctor after doctor, hospital after hospital i was sent home looking perfectly healthy to them until i met my current GI physician who identified the disease right away, anyways i got my colonoscopy then on my birthday, November 20th, this past year 2015 i received a call and was diagnosed with crohns disease. Anyways fast forward to today, I was put on budesonide which helped only a little but after 3 months most of my symptoms were still there, pooping 10 times a day, crazy stomach aches ranging from mild to a stab in the entire stomach.

Starting about 1.5 weeks ago I've been getting pain in my anus EVERYTIME i need to poop.. It started off bad but now its horrible, I now go between 3-6 times per day but it takes me more than an hour to get over the pain in my anus after pooping and sometimes I get the pain from farting.. If i can describe it i would say its like pulling out a shard of glass from my intestines but its only continously cutting 1 part of my anus which causes the entire thing to swell up, i felt around and it feels like theres a bump in the inside lining of my anus in the back right corner, I am scared the pain is gonna lead me to kill myself.. help please.. ive been emailing my doctor and trying to call his office but his stupid receptionist never answerrs the phone and he hasn't been checking his emails. im in too much pain, after pooping i cant stand sit or lay in any position, i'd rather be asleep for good then feel this pain. i have no one i can talk to or anyone who understands.. help..

Hi, sorry to hear about your health issues and the pain. It sounds like you need a more aggressive form of treatment. Humira and Remicade seem to help a lot of people. You may want to discuss these options with your doctor.

I would try checking other doctors in your area to get some prompt assistance and prognosis. Don't be shy or afraid to see multiple doctors until you find one you are comfortable with. I made a similar mistake during my initial diagnosis.

I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this... I've had crohns for around 10 years now and occasionally have terrible pain like you're describing.. Might not be the same thing, but I can relate to how sucky that pain is! Do you tend to have any bright blood when going to the bathroom? It could be a few things that I can think of (I'm not a dr so these are just things that I think they could be) it could either be a super bad hemorrhoid or maybe an anal abscess? The thing I can think of that might help is putting some hemorrhoid cream on it, that would help even if it isn't a hemorrhoid..

It may not help, but it's somewhere to start anyway.. I hope you find some relief:) I also agree with idlebrain. Keep looking for a dr until you find one that helps and that you like. Good luck!

reminds me of times my pain was unbearable - one was an abscess in my rectum, the other an anal fissure. Ended up in hospital both times, can you go to your local ER?

Please be careful using haemorrhoid cream! I had a similar problem with pain in the rectum and used the cream and yowsers it stung and smarted something fierce! [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33] My GP said it was liking putting local anaesthetic into an open wound! Essentially that's what I was doing as the area was inflamed. It does settle after the local starts to take effect but it needs a warning! I'd suggest you keep trying to see your GP(or get a new one of you can't be seen for so long) and see what they suggest for relief. I've been using predsol suppositories and they seem to be working.

Hi...

Sorry you are suffering all through this without the help you need urgently.
Like Shellk I would not suggest hemoroid cream, did the same to me
You need expert advice and help...could be an abscess ....go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away, they will help you and get a GI specialist to see you.
Don't put up with this any longer.
I agree with previous advice ...you need a doctor who will respond to your needs
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

I support going to the hospital if you can't get in touch with your GI. They should do some tests to see if maybe it could be hemorrhoids, a fissure or possibly an abscess. Are you seeing blood as well?

Yes, get to the hospital since you cant get a response from your G.I. The ER should be able to help you, even if it is just temporary relief. They will send you to a G.I., or bring one in to see you while there. I was thinking it could be a fistula, abscess, or fissure.

Thank you everyone.. I'm going to use this site more often, first time I received advice from people who know what it feels like, tired of hearing the usual, "Whats wrong? ohh :( just lay down and try not to think about it." I was thinking of the hemorrhoid cream but good thing I didn't get it yet, I don't think its a fissure, does it bleed for sure if it is? I've been inspecting closely and see no blood, I had trouble looking through a mirror so asked my girlfriend to have a peak, there seems to be a bump on the inside lining of the right back corner, when she stretches it she says it looks white underneath like a pearl, and the skin of my anus was bright red and swollen all around.

My GI's receptionist finally got in contact with me and she is trying to get a cancellation appointment for me as soon as she can, if i were to go to the ER would they have a GI specialist there ready to see me? or would they refer me to a GI, because thats how i met my current GI, i couldn't take it anymore went there they did a bunch of blood tests said everything was fine(but apparently my red blood count was very low which they didn't tell me my GI looked at the report and was surprised no one told me -.-)anyways i had to wait 4 months to see my GI.. when they refered me to him from the hospital, my current next appointment is on april 22nd, if i cant get a cancelation before that, if iwere to go to the hospital and it was a hemorroid or abscess would they be able to help now? or wait till i see my gi?

My doctor told me about remicade, it being 30,000$ a year sounds like i'll never be able to get it :/ Because of my constant washroom needs pain and shitty mood i quit working part time and school about a year ago. I don't even make half that a year :( i never got health insurance because before all this started, i dont remember a time getting a flu or barely a noticeable cold 2 times a year

I doubt its a fissure because there is no blood and it only stings when i poop and now i feel a pressure like i was sitting on a post or something, maybe hemorroid or abscess, are there GI specialists avaiable at ERs?

From what your girlfriend described, it sounds like an abscess. Those hurt like hell. If you could go into the ER stating you believe you have a rectal abscess, you'll be more likely to have someone look in that place and see what your girlfriend saw. Perhaps, too, it would expedite an earlier appt with your GI.

Sounds exactly like when I had my abscess... I actually went into the ER and had it lanced.. They put me on an antibiotic and now it's cleared up. My GI was actually the one that recommended putting hemorrhoid cream on it, even if it was an abscess as long as it wasn't openly bleeding. It can reduce the inflammation and stinging. I had the pressure with my abscess too. It felt a lot better once they lanced it, but they told me to be careful if any drainage came out as they can turn into fistulas pretty easily

My GI got in contact with me and the receptionist got me an appointment for tomorrow morning! I was contemplating going to the ER last night and I'm glad I just waited a bit longer, I hope to find out what it is and to get it treated ASAP, my moods picking up a bit :) I'll post an update tmrw

Good luck with your appointment! I'm glad you were able to get in quickly. Every doctor has a cancellation list for emergencies but if it weren't soon enough and the pain was as bad as you described then going to the ER/hospital is your next best bet.

I just got back from the doctors, he examined me (which was preeeeetty painful lol) and said I have an anal fissure, I'm happy to have it figured it out and am going to go to Costco as soon as i can.

He also spoke to me about Humira, he let me know that I'd be able to apply for the Ontario Drug Benefit as well! Most likely won't have to pay a cent either, today's a good day.

P.S Anyone that has had an anal fissure know how long the cream will take to fix it? and will it come back? :c

I was going to respond earlier but didn't. (I thought it would be better to wait rather than go to the ER so my view would clash with the general thought)

I had three fissures at the same time. I feel your pain. I started on prednizone and for me, literally, the next day, I felt better. Note, that I did not feel GOOD, just better. The analogy I draw is putting your hand on a hot stove. Clearly it hurts. Pull your hand off and it still hurts but the intensity has subsided.

I think it took me a couple weeks before I felt they were healed.

That is what got me started my journey to find out what was wrong (2012)

I ended up going from a (somewhat chubby) 185 pounds down to 128 pounds. I had not weighed that much since high school 35 years prior (I wrestled at 132 and my senior year, had to work at keeping my weight there....now, I got there free of charge!)

I also had an infected Fistula. Finally got a seton installed and literally, within about two weeks, added 20 pounds of weight. It was amazing watching the weight jump on.

Today, 2 years later, I'm about 155 and can't get much higher yet. Kind of pisses my wife off (and my GI). He gave me specific instructions to do whatever I needed to do for weight gain. I can't afford to lose that kind of weight again. So now I eat deserts when I might have passed before. My GI (with a sense of humor) muttered under his breath calling me a SOB that I "need" to have deserts and can't gain weight when he's on the chubby side and ostensibly, watching what he's eating.

:)
