1:38 am rant session! Frustrated doesn't begin to cover how I am feeling. Husband got a new job with great benefits. He brought home a packet 2 weeks after hire date, with insurance policy info, prices and terms. Long story short, we have been waiting to get my hospital prone self on private insurance for years! We were told we had 90days from hire date to enroll for benefits when ot was actually 30 days from hire date. Missed enrollment Which I would still be on 6 month probation for preexisting condition! So now we wait for NOVEMBER! Enroll then . Wait 6 months... A YEAR WILL HAVE LAPSED AND WE STILL HAVE NO BREAK FINANCIALLY. Not to mention physically. Have not seen remission, ever. Not being able to see a GI doctor regularly is kicking my butt. *PUN INTENDED* My arse hurts!! I am ready to drink a sip of water without it triggering acid butt. Among many other things! So many variables and factors to consider during your road to remission. Where to begin..
RANT/RAMBLING. IS. OVER.
Can anyone out in the universe relate? Some social connection on these topics would be really great. Okay. Arthritic fingers are pounding. Must. Stop. Typing.

Sorry to hear about the issue with the 30 day window. I wish things like this would be covered in future reforms.

I've been in the uninsured limbo before and it is a challenge.

Crazy thing is, I will probably be returning to the uninsured for a short while coming up. I think I've done what I can for the moment, so I'm remaining hopeful.

I don't know the details of your husband's employment history but you did say new job. Is he getting paid more? If so, maybe looking at alternative methods would be worthwhile for the moment. For instance, many dieticians/nutritionist that specialize in IBD, don't take insurance anyway, so this might be a good time to see one while the employment picture looks good.

Just a thought.

Yes that is true! It very well may be a blessing in disguise.
I just don't know where to begin. I fear going to see a GI because I know they will want to prescribe new Rx, that we probably can't afford easily. Also, i'm at the point where it has been 5 years since last scope and I am needing a new assessment. All these things running through my head and a trigger of CD is stress! Oy!
You say you are possibly going back to being uninsured? How come?

So have you ever seen a nutritionalist/dietician? Was this helpful?

Technically I will still have an insurance plan, but it will be nothing like what I currently have. It is more of a catastrophic event / gap insurance. This is due to some personal existential stuff going on. I will be in another country where medication is supposed to be drastically cheaper and patents are not honored so, if it comes to it, I'm supposed to be okay.

As far as history with nutritionist... I've seen one that did help me for a time when I was is really bad shape. The long term effects of the plan I think are more questionable. But again, I have not seen a specialist in quite some time. It perhaps would make sense to go back and see on.

I understand the pressure of trying to get the diagnostics done. Those definitely cost money and would be much better with insurance.

Hang in!!

Thanks! You do the same! Don't forget to STOP and take care of yourself. As a fellow crohns endurer, I understand all the back and forth and whiplash of the disease and "business" that comes along with it. Good luck in your travels and I truly wish you the best!

I lost my job back in November of last year, have been without insurance since then. Finally have a new job and get insurance after 90 days. I have held my Crohn's in place pretty well over the last 7 months, but have been in such a major flare the last two weeks. Already dropped 13 pounds, can't eat anything really. Today is my 90 day mark and now I worry about the process and all the tests I have to have done in order to even get back on a treatment. I am so stressed out. I also must mention that I got pnemonia back in March, I still owe almost 3 grand on all of that and when I finally quit going to the doctor it had not totally cleared out of my lungs. So, if that is still there at all there is no way I can go on a treatment. AHHHH! I hate this disease so much, it has been the worst and there are days that I really do not want to live this way. It is so depressing and no one gets it. I am starving and unable to keep anything in. Not even toast. I had to rant somewhere because I am going out of mind.

To Titanette, I am sorry you are struggling! I am trying to get on Humira and am currently without a gastro. You mentioned LUNGS. In the past few weeks I have had pain and wheezing in my lungs. Upper part. I do not have a cold. I am dx UC but have crohn's symptoms in eyes and mouth and stomach. Does Crohn's inflame your lungs? That would explain a lot to me.
