Pain in the butt...literally

Hey all,

I've been getting this pain that feels like a sharp stabbing pain almost going up my anus. It generally doesn't last long, up to 20 - 30 min or so but at times can be really really bad. I always feel like maybe if I was to have a bowel movement it would ease the pain but 98% of the time I am unable to go.

Is this something anyone else has experienced? I'm not scheduled to see my GI for several months and I've had this pain off and on for years (forgot to mention it when seeing GI last time), since I've had it for so long I don't really think it is anything serious, just kind of curious if it is normal with crohns.

I had it a while back. I don't remember the results but you might want to mention it to your doctor.

Good Day cdn rose,
Sorry to hear of your suffering.
Yes, I have endured those pains for years, I even have a pet name for them...
ass daggers!

Hard to isolate the cause of those intense clock-stopping pains,
because I have thrombosed hemmies, fissures & 3 fistulas raging.
sorry, not much help, I know...

but yes I get them, yes life stops whilst they last, yes they really suck!
wishing you only well,
w

Thanks Ron and Walt. I assumed it was normal...as normal as can be with crohns that is.

I'll make a note to myself to mention it to my GI, or maybe even to the infusion nurse next week when I go for my infusion.

Ass daggers...very appropriately named Walt!

I have gotten this. This is not so much a sharp pain, but more like having a charlie horse in the anus. It is so painful, almost gets me sick when I feel this. It is a very deep throbbing pain that comes on suddenly and can last from a few seconds to 20 minutes.
