Physical sport pains

Hey, so I'd like to ask everyone if they get very bad pains after exercise? I'm in high-school and often don't take part in PE because of the pains I get in my arms and legs. I was wondering if anyone else experience this and does anything to help it?

Thanks,
Lewis

What is your age CG? Lots of reasons for pains in the arms and legs that can cover anything from growth spurts in puberty to crohn's to arthritis, nerve damage and more. Some more details here would help. Is the pain in the joints, mid-limb? Does stretching help out at all?

Sorry, well I'm 15 and yes when running I get pain in my muscle on the top of my leg and my joints are always sore the next day and it continues for a few days before easing down. I've not tried stretching yet, but may do in future

Stretching is a really good idea. I have a lot of tendon/ligament issues right now, and it is possible that proper stretching when I was younger may have helped. If you have an appointment with your medical team (GI or GP) soon, it is well worth mentioning

Stretching helps so much, I am just getting back into running after over a year off (thanks Crohns) and if I don't stretch I am in agony. This never used to happen and it's all down to meds, the disease and just generally getting old and creaky, I think.

Also try taking fish oil supplements but speak to your doctor first before you do, they aren't for everyone, but I find that they are very helpful and my sport-related and joint pains have got better since I started taking them. It's the one 'natural' remedy I actually believe in.

Hey, so I'm gonna start off with a question. Be honest with yourself, what is your fitness level? Whether you are over weight or skinny does not matter. It is more how often you are active. Are you used to being physically active? If not you may have a lower fitness level. This is fine, everyone has to start from somewhere and it's where I started from. I always assumed I was super for because I was skinny as a kid. Truth is if your muscles aren't used to being worked often then they will hurt. Your running may be caused by shin splints, which can be caused by too much too soon. If you are a skinny healthy person it is very easy to overdo it to early because you feel more fit than you really are.

With all that being said, take everyone's advice and mention it to your doc the next time you see him/her. At your age I personally would advise against supplements but again talk to your doctor.

Yea, I'm not the most active kid, I play video games a lot because I just don't have the energy to do most activities with my friends. I'm very skinny (6st 3lb - 5foot 2inches) for a 15 year old I'm probably the smallest in my year too. But hey thanks I'll mention it to my specialist :)
