Just a quick hello guys and short story. So i was in hospital in January gone this year with abdominal pains and on Tuesday i saw a specialist for first time since my stay. During the meantime i have had camera up my backside and an mri scan. So the gastro specialist told me i have crohns on Tuesday just gone and put me on Entocort, well i`m not happy already suffering headaches, hot and cold sweats, abdominal pain all in 3 days of using this taking 3 x 3mg capsules daily, anyhow he wanted to put me on summink stronger but because i have a low immune system as is already (spleenectony) he was reluctant because of infections. Well iv`e been reading on these capsules quite a few hours and tbh i`m not happy and i`m gonna stop them ASAP phone my Doctorts tomorrow and explain my case and symptons since taking them, i`m also gonna ask for the blood test results that he took the other day to see what my platelet count or blood count (not sure which) is and if it had dropped because i wasn`t suffering since it was sorted back in January until i started on these and my bowel movements were pretty normal too.

I think i`m also going to try an alternate route of treating this, so if anyone has experience of this a private friendly PM may help me out with a recipe, thanks very much guys.

Entocort can be a real godsend for getting your Crohn's under initial control, especially if you have ileal disease. Thus I suggest you give the medicine a longer than 3 day trial before giving up on it.

How are you taking the three pills per day? All at once or spread out across the day? I found that Entocort was most effective and with fewest side effects if I took all three pills first thing in the morning right after I got out of bed.

It's also best not to stop the drug cold turkey, but instead to taper down from 3 pills/day to 2 pills to one pill over a period of weeks. Your doc can instruct you on all this.

Yes i take all 3 in morning between 6 and 8am before doing anything on an empty stomach.

About treatment for the Crohn's disease.

Give the treatment a chance, three days is not long enough. Once it does the job of knocking down the flare you could look at other treatment options including exploring herbal methods and life style. If Entocort continues to make you feel worse call your doctor and discuss your symptoms in full and ask about other treatments. Treatments are like keys, only some will open the lock to improvement.

I too have Entocort for my back-up for really bad flares with both my Crohns and UC. It's a God send. It's the only thing that can get it under control. Most of my flares stem from me being stupid and eating radishes, dark chocolate or celery. And those are my favorites! I love my veggies and salads but no more. These silly diseases have taken what I was taught to eat growing up and adored, away from me which is healthy for most people but for me it's a death sentence. I do get migraines from Entocort but I take my pain pills and it disappears in minutes. It's worth it.
