I need help

i need help

So a couple of weeks ago i went through a flare dropped 15lbs blood in stool diarrhea all the fun stuff my gi doc sent me to a new gi doc for a pill cam and while i was there we did a colonoscopy the colonoscopy showed a couple of ulcers and inflamation but biopsies were negitive for colitis and the pill cam showed inflamations and ulcers in me intestinal tract consistant with crohns so the new it doc says that it is crohns and writes it up as crohns but me old gi doc says that he thinks its a false negitive and he is unsure if it is crohns i don't get it my old gi seems very uneducated on crohns and very slow to try and diagnose or treat me he is also private pratice while my new gi doc seems more quick to do something about what's wrong and works for a big hospital were he gets a wider range or patients.............idk what to do or who to believe i am so fed up with being sick all the time and having to go to the er because my old gi wont give me crohns medication even though he has said he thinks its crohns for the last 8 months

Hey condiff,

OK, so the old GI thinks it's Crohns and the new guy says it is, then I would go back to the new guy and get treatment. Just my opinion but what have you got to lose. If the drugs don't work you are no worse off per say but if they do work then you're a helluva lot better off. What is your gut feeling telling you? Do you think it's Crohns?

It sounds like either way the consensus is coming up CD.

Dusty. :)

There is no doubt in my mind i don't have crohns.......my mom had it while pregnant with me i have inflammation and ulcers throughout my digestive system abdominal pains headaches joint pains eye problems everything..........my old gi questions that i have it but yet is starting me on humira injections tomorrow but i hate office visits with him because i feel like he doesn't address the questions i have for him or isn't concerned about them and it annoys me and on top of all of this im a cop in the air force and im treated like crap because im unhealthy and basically useless to the air force and my squadron

Get away from him and find someone you trust and who validates what you are saying and feeling. It sounds like you are doing it really tough in many areas of your life condiff, are you going to be OK?

Perhaps if you can find a GI that will listen and prescribe appropriate treatment other areas of your life will improve as well.

Dusty.

easy to say I know but try and calm the stress down. Trouble is finding a good consultant/doctor who knows actually what their on about.

There any specialist near you that you can see?

It sounds pretty obvious that you know which doc is right and you even sound more comfortable with the newer GI.

I hope things start to look up for you. If it's at all possible and the diagnosis problem isn't getting taken care of or is still wishy washy, try investigating the Fargo area for a better GI... or if you could, make it a road trip to the cities and get hooked up with the mayo clinic.

I've been to a couple places in Jersey, New York, Florida and California but I've never felt like I was in better hands in than in Minneapolis. Even the nurses were VERY knowledgeable, more so than a lot of GP I've met.

Yea but the new doc said that he couldn't be my doc for ethics reasons because i was only refered to him for the pill cam......i would love to go to the mayo clinic but im stationed in arkansas so this is my only option right now......i guess im just going to have to deal with itand do my best to get diagnosed i start hamuria today so hopefully ill start feeling better these headaches are killing me i have to close my eyes alot to dull the pain its so intense

I don't know how things work in the US so I'll ask this. Is there any reason you can't tell your current GI that you don't like him and you want to be referred to some one else or whichever way you'd like to phrase it? Or ask your GP to refer you to someone else?

Dusty. :)

Well in my case im in the military so i get reffered to a off base doctor from my doctor on base and then from there he can refer me to whoever he needs to get me diagnosed but i've started to not like my gi doc because he seems uneducated about crohns or how he treats crohns patients and the new guy seemed better idk but my mom had crohns i've been dealing with diarreha constipation some blood abdominal pains joint pains headaches they found ulcers and inflammation throughout my intestinal tract my fecal fats usually come out abnormal meaning malabsorbtionin my small intestines and in my head i know its crohns 10 ml of pred helped a little so i know there is inflammation that it is taking care of so to me all signs point to crohns i just can get my original gi to say it is
