Awww thank you so much for all the warm thoughts and wishes...

Well I was lucky enough to be first on the cutting board yesterday! the team was fantabulous! Gynae and surgeon all set to do their thing... anesthatist (wonderful fellow with whom I had a great time jokng around with) was awesome and did his work absolutely top notch!!.

So they got me off to la-la land... stuck the camera in from the laprascope... looked around... and found a MESS! the gynae that was going to "tie" my tubes, said looking for the tubes was like trying to find two pieces of spaghetti in a bowl of fettuchini.... just WAY too many adhesions to even try to deal with....

So they did the second part of the procedure (probing some of these sores to see if they are fistulas or not) and I haven't heard the results of that whole senario yet... have to call the surgeon's office and see what he found and what he thinks....

I am guessing with all the adhesions, if he did find fistulas (which, in all that mess I'd be surprised if he didn't!!) it will be a full on, split-me-open and gut-me-like-a-fish, type of surgery.... oh well I have dealt with many of those... was just thinking how nice it would be to have a laprascopic colostomy done...

Anywhos, am home and other than being just a bit sore ( I think more from the 6 hour drive home right after surgery than the surgery itself...lol) I am doing very well. A bit disappointed that all didn't go as planned, but after 24 years, I should know better than to think it would have...lol.

Thank you so much for all the warm wishes, thoughts and prayers.... You know the saying "Diamonds are a girl's best friend." ?.... Well, you all are my diamonds.....

Thank you , My Friends.... :rosette2:

glad to hear you are home and you are doing okay, keep us posted on your results. Hopefully can get your answers soon.

take care Silvermoon we are thinking about you

And that is why my sister had her tubes tied during her last C-section.

Good news that your out. Bad news that it took so long to for you to get home. Feel better.

Well I just got off the phone with the surgeon's office... he definitely found fistulas, with mild Crohn's where the small and large bowel meet (last surgery site) and moderate to severe Crohn's at the rectum. He called the fitulas "watering can" fistulas, which I guess means there are 9827435983895 of them all connected together, causing about 98234759 surface sores (which explaims why my a$$ and perianal area hurt and weep like a damn....).

SOOO back to the surgeon's office at the end of the month to sign consents for further surgery. The surgeon's receptionist is going to try and coordinate this appoinment with the one for the gynae so I only have to make one trip (6 hours one way) to see them both and get everything all signed at the same time.

It's funny... I feel relief and sadness at he same time... relief for now knowing what it is for SURE, but sadness that the CD around my anus has progressed from mild (in November) to moderate-sever now... means the Humira really isn't working... so I wonder what new and wonderful drug they are going to try next??? Maybe will stay on the same drugs after the surgery, as a colostomy will allow the moderate/severe part to heal a bit better.....

Silvermoon I am sorry you have to go through more surgery and that your crohns has progressed so much in such a little time. But i am happy that you finally know what is causing your pain.

You are in our thoughts and prayers daily

I agree with Rosemary. Sad to hear the news means progression of the disease, but good that you know for sure what's wrong. I hope you can get your surgeries figured out soon so you can feel better!

Silvermoon, soooooooo sorry, all I could think in my head is ouch! You must be in alot of pain! More surgery? I can't believe how far you are away from the hospital. I live in the boonies too but only 45 min from the hospital, that alone is a journey from hell.

At least you know more, and something is being done. (((hugs ))) My heart goes out to you!

Thanks guys... and yes, you guys have hit the nail on the head with "at least I KNOW what is going on now"... not just dermatologists or others guessing MAYBE it is this or that, so lets try this or that drug and see if it clears up... lol

Yes living in "rural" AB can be a struggle at times. I DO have access to general practitioners and a two hospitals 20 - 40 minutes away, but other than that, the closest center that has any kind of specialists is Peace River, and those specialists "visit" from Grande Prairie or Edmonton - and Peace River is still 4 hours from me. So surgeons, internalists, gynaecologists, that kind of thing, require a trip to Grande Prairie - 6 hour drive. After living up here for 30+ years, you get used to travelling - you may never LIKE it, but you get used to it. The only way to get around it is... move to the city. lol At least now I CAN see specialists in Grande Prairie... when my brother and I were kids, our pediatrition was in Edmonton - 10 hour drive one way. Mom and dad spent a LOT of time on the road with us...lol.

Anywhos.... thank you so much for the warm wishes. Yeahhh it's a pain (literally!! LOL!), but like you say, at least I KNOW.... now if I can just figure out how to treat all the rest of you so YOU all know, I will be happy.... lol.

Hang in there, the whole lot of you.... Dusty and I are working on a cure!!!!

:rosette2: :rosette2: :rosette2:

((big hugs)) from me too...

aw i'm sorry honey that it wasn't better news, but at least you now know what's going on, and you have some understanding of what you need to make things better.

i take it the colostomy will be permanent?

Well with them finding mild disease further up the colon (at 15 cm, that has to be where large and small bowel connect, cause I don't think I HAVE much more colon than that...lol) I am not sure what he is going to do now. When we were talking just about fistula treatment, he was jsut going to do a loop colostomy and leave everything else there...

I have an appt with him Sept 20th now, so I guess I will find out then what his plan is...

BUT!! the biggest thing for me is I HAVE CONFIRMATION of what these sores are and I am not crazy and all the dermaltologists who told me "oh it's acne...wash better down there" can KISS MY A$$$$!!!!

LOL

Sorry - "happy fart" - just had to get that out there....

But yeah... even though things didn't go as planned, at least I KNOW now what is going on and we can work from there....

I just wish I could do the same for so many others out there.... find out WHAT is goin' on so we can help deal with it after.... :(

Silver, I am hoping you heal quickly after your surgery. I know what it is like to not have confirmation of a disease. I have wanted a tatoo of that saying, or a not so nice picture on my bum for many years. My husband thinks it isn't very nice. But you know what? It isn't HIS butt that gets looked at all the time! LOL!!

Take care!
