Hi every1! I'm new here. I have a long story to tell, got to find some time to type it all up!
I need some help guys.I need to take iron but taking it orally messes me up (it actually gives me diarrhea instead of constipating me). I was told that iron could be taken by injection, going straight to your blood w/o going through the digestive system.
I mentioned it to my GI and he kind of brushed me off. My regular GP told me that he can't give it to me and it's only given by blood doctors to people with very serious conditions.
in the meanwhile I ain't taking anything and thats not very good either.
Please let me know any info or knowledge you guys have about this.

Thanks

I have no clue about iron injections. Welcome to the forums though and I am sure some one will come along who knows more than me on the subject. Best of luck

In the fact sheet of Forvia multivitamin which is supposedly formulated for people with IBD they mention that

http://www.forvia.com/cgi-bin/forvia2.storefront

"Iron is provided as ferrous fumarate, which is highly soluble in the gastrointestinal tract, well tolerated orally and was less toxic than ferrous sulfate or ferrous gluconate in laboratory studies."

So maybe you should try this kind of iron supplement

Hey Mazen. I know you said you were taking Centrum. Have you switched over to forvia?

No, as I cannot find it in Lebanon. I'm still taking Centrum or a multi by Nature Made (similar to Centrum but more Vit C & E) and it seems OK with me; no side effects. I want to try something else, but I'm traveling next week to Germany, and I don't want to change my supplement routine before I go and then something bad happens. So maybe I'll try to switch to another multi when I come back.

I have bought 2 multis, supposed to be more natural, but I haven't tried any yet. Waiting for a time when I feel extremely well :)

Just a note: Forvia has similar synthetic components like Centrum, but it is supposed to have more optimal doses for IBD.
