Long term Methotrexate Use

I was wondering if anyone knew of any negative effects of being on Methotrexate for a long time. I have been on it for 8 going on 9 years now and have started to wonder if it would be a good idea to change up medications. Any advice would be help great thanks!

My Support Groups:
i was on it for about 5 years ,25 mg a week, had blood tests fairly regularly while on it, was asked to have a liver biopsy but said no way when i found out you were awake for it, all in all had very few side effects from it apart from the first month or so felt kinda spewy and fuzzy headed but it soon passed, it ended up giving me gut pains so had to end it

I haven't been on it for that long only since half way through last year. The major concern would be liver functioning and the psychological battle of taking a cycotoxic drug to make you better. What does your specialist say?

Thx for the replies I have always heard about the liver function concerns(the reason I don't drink even tho I am in uni...) but never seemed to have a problem. Next time I see my specialist I will for sure bring this up. I have been doing well but not as good as I used to be the last year or so. I am thinking I might want to switch to something else but am concerned about the trouble of changing meds.

Thanks again eh
