Not sure what i have yet

Hi all i am very unsure what i have. After various blood tests and a colonoscopy i was told i have an inflammation in my small bowel whcih in their words raises the possibility of inflammatory bowel disease. It wasn't possible for them to do a full colonoscopy as my intenstine was very narrow and i woke in alot of pain.

I am currently on Asacol which has really helped stop the diorrea alot but i still get bouts of it. I still feel really weak and get alot of joint paint althogh i havent lost any weight, i do get some inflammation in my eyes but alot of the time i feel totaly exhausted. I did bleed on a few occassions due to the diarreah caused so much irritation.

I do have an appoitment with the specialist in a weeks time, just wish i knew for sure what was wrong with me as this has been now over a year and they have told me very little.

Hi Splasher, welcome to the forum! There are many of us on here who are still undiagnosed and trying to get answers as to what illness we have. I'm undiagnosed too, and I've been ill for about a year and half now. I feel for you and understand what you're going through, it can be really frustrating at times!

We've got an Undiagnosed Club in the support section of the forum. Here's a link:

Good luck with your appointment with the specialist (are you seeing a gastroenterologist?). Glad you found us and hope you stick around!

Hi Splasher and welcome! I am glad the Asacol has helped stop the D, but I am sorry you haven't gotten a firm diagnosis yet as to what is going on. Like Cat said, it sometimes takes people a long time to get a diagnosis.

I wish you luck with your up coming appointment. Before it, I suggest doing some research around the forum (it's a wealth of information) and jot down things you want to discuss and questions for your GI. That way you'll get the most out of your appointment. Let us know how it goes!

Hi Splasher,
Welcome to the forum. Hopfully you'll get a firm diagnosis soon. It sounds like you need the stronger meds.

Hi Splasher
and welcome fellow Brit

really hope the specialist sorts you out, and gives you appropriate meds, Asacol isn't gonna cut it if you've got inflammation. It's good for maintaining once the inflammation is under control tho. I'm on Pentasa, a fellow family member of Asacol.
There are so many meds out there to control inflammation, have a mooch thro our treatment section for ideas.
lotsa luv

Hi Splasher - Love the name!

Good luck getting a dx soon. Inflammation in the eyes can be a common side effect of Crohns.

Hope you get some answers and some relief soon!
