how long after you stop taking imuran

How long does it take to get out of your system after you stop taking it. I heard 8 hours somewhere, but can't remember where, and i dont know if that is accurate or not?

In my uneducated opinion, I'd guess it to be more than eight hours.. Especially because you have to wean yourself off of it.

I've read that it has a half-life of 5 hours for metabolism. That could be completely wrong. But assuming that's true, it'd take 4ish half lives for it to be completely metabolized. So up to 20 hours. But that would be one dose. You've probably been on it for a while, so it's likely built up in your system.

So my advice... Ask your doc. Don't do anything hasty like expose yourself to rampant infection for fun.

I've been on it for a little over 5 months now. at 100mgs at night.
....
Say that i stop taking it.. just by not taking a dose, and keep not taking the dose at the time iv'e been taking it...
what could happen?
(I've already done this as i skipped last nights dose, because i'm tired of being on it, and my gi doc seems to just want to raise it, when my body is physically shutting down and i've not had this issue until the past month ... never in my life have i had this bad of an issue..and the only thing in my life that's diffrent is that im taking imuran.. or was... oddly it's been over 24 hrs since my last due dose and i'm able to already think clearer, tho my dreams are still pretty intense and wacky. lol. physically i dont notice a change other than im not sleepy and/or sleeping all the time.)

I was lying earlier, when I said you have to wean yourself off of it. Surprisingly, you can stop imuran whenever you want to, but you might flare up.

That's according to this: http://bombay.directrouter.com/~rheu...TION_SHEET.pdf

However, how long have you been on it? Imuran tends to make your life worse before it makes it better. It takes 6 weeks to start working at all. 8-10 to work good. If your life just started sucking this month, and you started taking imuran this month, don't stop it yet. Hang on, and it should kick in.

I was on it for a little over 5 months. I was actually doing good before i was on it, and during the time when i first started it. then things started slowly getting worse until i had about 3 infections one in the urine, a head infection, a vaginal infection, AND a lower respitory infection all at the same time, then came a very bad flare up and then came me going "i QUIT!" and stoped a few days ago now..
now i'm noticing it did stop the arthiritis as i have that now, and it stoped my eyes from burning, as they are now.. but i dont know.... thanks for that link, i'll check it out ^_^
