My story

my story

hi fellow crohn's sufferers.

so it says i have to write about myself before i can ask a question or post a thread. so here goes-

i was diagnosed with the disease in 2003, whilst serving in the army. i spent 14 months on sick and my second home was the hospital.. i decided to then, make the biggest mistake of my life, and sign out of the army. (fool i was!!). several months later and after a whole heap of meds and tests. last option. surgery. i had a double resection. excellent!! 5yrs with no problem. until 8mths ago. now am back on the prednisolone. seeing the specialist again. and just having a nightmare of a time.

Welcome Dave!

I am sure it was tough signing out of the army but I am sure you felt there was no other choice at the time.

Hopefully working with your specialist will allow you to regain a life being symptom free.

Hope to see you around the forum soon!

Welcome Dave! I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time...best of luck to you!! I hope the specialist is able to help you get things straightened out quickly!!

All of our issues are valid even if there's someone out there who always seems worse off. No worries there. What medications were you taking after your surgery may I ask? Welcome to the forum! :D

Hi Dave and welcome!

Sorry to hear you are having problems again after a nice long 5 year remission! Hope you and your doc can put together a treatment plan that has you feeling well again soon. Whatever you come up with, you'll find lots of good info and posts in our treatment section, which covers just about every med option out there.

Good luck! - Amy

hi i wasn't put on any meds after the op. just painkillers for the scarring. i'm thinking now, after my second course of prednisolone in 8mths. i want the op again. the doc wants me to go on the injections. imuninab?? (i think), and azathioprine. but i cant tolerate azathioprine. (not nice) couldnt walk after 1 tablet. pretty sick of all the drugs. ive tried the majority of whats out there. just these new biological ones i haven't. but read up on them, and dont like the sound of the possible side affects. whats your thoughts?? anybody had the op twice??
