Perhaps? Maybe So??

Hi Everyone,

I've come across this forum when looking up a few of my symptoms on google. So I've always generally had digestive discomfort ever since I was little. I do eat a lot of spicy foods (one of my guilty pleasures) and those of you who are familiar with its effects know its not pleasant (CAN BE PAINFUL TO ENDURE) but I'm addicted! I've been working on taking it down a lot of notches though. I've always had a lot of gas, some bloating and occasional abdominal pain with my bowel movements. Recently I had a watery D episode after eating peanuts--its never happened before! Along with abdominal pain. Now I'm dealing with mild joint pain..in my left shoulder and right hand and wrist specifically. The pain showed up a couple weeks ago but doesn't hurt any less or any more. Although it has migrated a little towards my left hand. I've also been recently dealing with a lot of flatulence lately and sometimes my stools are very odd colors--green (dark to bright)...brown to dark brown....and a couple days ago i saw specks of red in my D. Don't know if it was something i ate that day--can't remember what i ate. Just wondering if this could be Crohns...

Any input would be appreciated!!! Thank you!!

I don't ever give out diagnoses through the forums as well I'm not a doctor and secondly this is probably one of the hardest things to diagnose because it can appear (at first glance anyway) to doctors as many different things.

Of course it could be Crohn's but it could be any number of other things too. When I started having symptoms I hadn't heard of Crohn's but my Aunt had Colitis and it was just pushed aside and we tried to treat many other things....

You could easily take 10 different people from here at random and ask them what their symptoms are and you could easily get 10 different answers. Different things and foods will affect everyone differently too. I eat spicy foods, well atleast they are spicy to me, without issue. BUT! When I'm flaring if I touch Ceaser Salad....bathroom or if I eat something quite sugary without a full good meal before....bathroom. You may or may not have that too.

All questions for the doctor I'm afraid. One thing to keep in mind though is don't be embarassed when asking or telling the doctor these things. I was at first and it made the process a lot slower than it could have been. I assure you they've heard it all before and probably then some.

Best of luck and hopefully you start feeling better soon.

Hi Nina! It sounds like you have some GI issues, but it is very tough to say if it is Crohn's. It is even difficult for IBD specialists to make a diagnosis sometimes. But if you are truly concerned, I agree with my friends above - call your doctor. Set up some tests and get to the bottom of it. Good luck!
