Hello..Help..New

WOW! I am so glad I found this forum!
I was unofficially diagnosed with Crohn's on July 7, 2011.
Last April (2010) I had what I call an "episode". Lower abdominal pain (contraction like) with constant trips to the bathroom. Diahhrea and then over 3-10 days I would contract and bear down but nothing would come out. It would wake me up in the middle of the night (as it still does) and I was a wreck!
Fast forward to April 2011. I start having these "episodes" again. Not only am I having these episodes on a monthly (or so) basis but now I am not regular. I am lucky to go once a week. I am bloated, miserable, tired depressed!
During my most recent episode I finally went to a walk in clinic. She asked the typical questions, sent me for bloodwork, ultrasound & of course I had to produce 5 stool samples. I went for my u/s which showed a blockage on my right side but to be sure I was sent to emergency to rule out appendicitis (sp?). The ER doctor said it wasn't my appendix and suggested Crohns. I broke down!! I was tired, hungry, frustrated and angry! She then sent in a referral for a GI specialist.
1 week later, I am called back into the clinic for results. My bloodwork showed a significant B12 deficiency and low iron. I am put on B12 and have to get more bloodwork done in 1 month. I am now down 4lbs. 2 of the stool samples show no infection/parasite. The clinic doctor tells me she thinks it's Crohns as well. She is waiting for more results to come back. My referral date for a GI is DECEMBER 2011. I panic! At this point I have hardly slept, eaten or done much of anything. My children (9 & 13) are going stir crazy because I won't leave the house.
DECEMBER 2011!!!
So....I am not on ANY medication! They won't do ANYTHING for me until more stool sample results come back and I have to wait until December. I have been off work for over a week. I was starting to feel better (mild cramping) but I have woken up the last 2 days with some back pain that is not related to my back. It's deep inside. My right side is sore again and I've run to the washroom 5x already. I feel another episode coming on.
I apologize for the long rant! I guess I'm dazed and confused! I don't know what to do anymore. I am soo down that I can't even talk to my husband about it.
I have read some posts and I'm hopeful! I just don't understand why the docs aren't helping me? Maybe I need a new doctor?
Does anything I say above sound like crohns? I'll stop rambling now and read some more posts!

I wanted to mention that I have mucousy stools as well. I have yet to figure out what my "triggers" are and I am finally eating more each day but I am always bothered by what I eat.
I have been lightheaded, headachy for a few days now. I also developed a rash on my back last year that lasted almost a year. I had seen a dermatologist about it and they kept saying it was a fungal rash but nothing they gave me ever worked. This is around the same time I had my first "episode". The rash is now gone but the episodes increased. My husband seems to think it's related.

The first doctor I had with my stomach issues said it was in my head... the second doctor said its stress... the third doctor after having a bad reaction to a new medicine found inflammation in my intestines and colon that apparently only show up during a "flare up"... point being a lot of doctors overlook the obvious... keep bugging them and keep calling around until someone can see you sooner! I had a GI tell me not until Sept recently and I was like you missing work and exhausted... I bugged them and bugged them and now I have an appointment in less than 2 weeks. FIGHT for temporary Crohns medicine until you can get in with a GI specialist (I did and am on them before my GI appt!) Let them know how important it is that the symptoms are at least manageable while figuring out a treatment plan. Hang in there!!

Hello, sorry you're feeling ill but glad you have found us here. Welcome. December is an awful long time to wait. Perhaps you could go back to see your GP? Do you have a good relationship with him/her? I too had a longish wait to see the GI for the first time after a Barium FT confirmed Crohn's( having had symptoms for 8 months ) and my GP put me on a low dose of Prednisolone as I was also getting worse and losing weight.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

My family Dr just got me an appt with my GI Dr last week and it is for today! He said if they wouldn't get me in, he was gonna search for someone who could see me! It's hard waiting so long.. good luck!
