Crohn's Disease Since I was 15

I have had stomach pain and issues since I was born. My mom couldn't keep anything down my stomach besides goats milk. I've either had one of two problems I would be unable to go to the bathroom or too often. I have never had much blood in my stool. It was always pain terrible pain and cramps. I was fifteen when I ended up in the ER with swollen kidneys and colon. I spent three weeks in the hospital and finally ended up with crohns disease being my final diagnosis. I have tried several medications to help and ended up going to a nautropathic doctor. I have been able to manage okay this way for several years with occasional visits every year to a critical care office for pain. I have had some pain this year but nothing out of the ordinary. However today I had a new development which scared me.. Blood in the toilet bowl lots of it... Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum, you have come to a place where you can learn alot about this disease but talk amongst the rest of us about how to control it and meds. I have had crohns 20years but had Diahreah on and off since I was 15 or so. I have also done the naturalpathic route, gluten free, avoidance of nightshade veggies... two surgeries and still not able to fight the flares off. I can't help you with the bleeding because knock-on-wood I haven't had blood loss, my older sister did and was enemic and had other problems. From some of the others here, and I know this sounds gross.. but take a picture of it, so when you go to see your doctor, he can help you.

Many people here to help you, where is your pain (if present) in your stomach? Do you see your Gi soon? Good luck!

I am hoping to get in to see him tomorrow.. Unfortunately I just moved to a new state and have not seen this doctor yet. So hopefully he can help me.. I usually have abdominal , upper right side and lower back pain.

Hi welcome

I feel bad that you are experiencing this. Hopefully your new doctor will be able to help tomorrow.

HI Sunshine, welcome to the forum, Is the blood a bright red? It could be abcess, fistula, or a ulcer. If is dark in colour then it is further up in your bowel. If i were you i would get to the doctor asap and tell him your symptoms and see what is has got to say. you may have to see a GI specialist to determine what is exactally going on there. Blood coming from your bowel is not normal, so i would get it checked out! Best Wishes.

Hi and welcome! As Scott pointed out, bright red blood usually means something going on towards the end of your colon. Hopefully, today your doctor was able to do a scope to see what the cause could be.

Let us know how your appointment went!
