I had surgery years ago and then was on Remicade for years. Did great until infusion related reactions started. I am now on Humira and imuran and not near as good as I used to be.
I am having surgery again this month, and then my doc is switching my imuran to cellcept. Anyone else try this med for Crohns yet?
I also have arthritis and uveitis that goes along with it so I am hoping it helps them all out.

Hey lamor32twigs.. Sorry to hear that you aren't as good on these new meds. Have you been on them long? does the doc expect that, given time, it will improve? As for cellcept, I'd never heard of it before. Maybe others have. If they do, or you learn more, I for one would be interested in hearing about it. Speaking of new things, a number of us (3, I think) are trying out a relatively new/unheard of treatment called LDN therapy. This is the early stages, and I'm not advocating it.. just tossing it out for you in the off chance that you someday run low on options, and may be forced to look outside the 'traditional' box. Anyway, all the best. hope cellcept works for you, and that you wind up feeling better than ever. Keep on posting, OK

Hi there,

The generic name for cellcept is mycophenolate. Its used as an immunosuppressant for transplant patients mostly but it is EXACTLY the same drug group as Azathioprine (Imuran) so technically could be used for us. Have never seen any research related to it but it may be something they are using as an alternative for you being the Aza isnt doing so much.

Have just done some quick research here at home about it and apparently it can focus more on white blood cells known as leucocytes so perhaps thats what they want to do with you and may feel this might help you get back to how you were before?

Just a few thoughts.
