Hello, so i just had surgery in Feb all is going pretty good except now im feeling cramps in my lower abdomen and getting little bits of blood when i wipe. Has anyone else had this issue and if so is this normal?. I could really use your help. Just a note, I have been splitting my prednisone from 7.5 mg on day then down to 5 mg the next. Was told it will be a very slow ween because i've been on it for so long. Thanks for any help given. Terriernut where are you , you always seem to have good advice.

Hello!! I'm here!

Bless you, sounds like you've been through it. Cramps and blood shortly after surgery as the bowel adjusts, yeah. Now, no. It does sound like the tapering is bringing back some of your symptoms. What else have they got you on sweetheart?
:rosette1:

Thanks Teriernut, No only multi vits, calcium, vit D and pred. i have noticed that when i use a Imodium things get better. Maybe too much diarrhea is causing it?

I think too much inflammation is causing the diarrea. (dont ask how I know this :( )

Honestly you really need a maintenance med to keep you in remission. Pred isnt going to cut it, you cant stay on that forever! What have the GI's suggested to you? If they havent suggested anything, please consider another GI!

Hi, well my GI specialist doesnt know. I will call her tomorrow. I shouldnt have any meds because i am suppose to have no more UC especially since my whole colon was removed.I was told i was illness free. Hope all is well for you , thanks for advice . Hoping to get this under control.

Oh, well if it is indeed UC, you should be cured. Unless you are Crohns after all, which I really hope you arent! But, you can try gluten free, dairy free, or an elimination diet while you wait. You need to get that inflammation down. What are you eating? (anything that caused issues in the past?) Me personally have tried a few diets, but I CHEAT, so it isnt so good. Have you been tested for Celiac for instance? Sometimes they go hand in hand.

yes well they were not 100 % sure if it was colitis or crohns. Pathology came back indetermined. But it could be that im using my abdomen way too much. Havnt eaten anything differently from before. Have not been tested for Celiac disease but friends and I were just talking about it yesterday. I have never tried any diets because i know i would fail the test..lol. Im going to keep a close eye on this and call my GI specialist this week. Thanks alot.
