How anxious are your children about food that causes bowel inflammation?

In a surprising result, Michigan State University researchers looking at the effects of diet on bowel disease found that mice on a calorie-restricted diet were more likely to die after being infected with an inflammation-causing bacterial pathogen in the colon.
Check out the study, Low-calorie diet linked to higher death rate in bowel disease model. Also see the abstract of the study, "Evaluation of inflammatory activity in Crohnís disease and ulcerative colitis."

Effects of diet on bowel inflammation

While research suggests inflammation associated with obesity may contribute to inflammatory bowel diseases such as colitis, the study results revealed a low-calorie diet may actually impair the immune systemís ability to respond to infection, said Jenifer Fenton, assistant professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, according to the news release based on the new study. Also see the studies, We are drinking too much water, and Air pollution linked to chronic heart disease.

My Support Groups:
It's a good thing then that I maintain a 3000 calorie a day diet. hah.

But that does make sense that a low-calorie diet would impair the immune system. Less food = immunity confused onto what is good or bad
