Fever at night

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about a month and a half ago although I suspect I may have had it for the past 2 years or so.

My doctor prescribed me Pentasa, which I've been taking 8 500mg tablets of daily and I haven't been feeling any better.

My doctor would like to put me on either Prednisone or Entocort (does anybody have any reasons to choose one over the other?), but the only problem is I have been running high-grade fevers at night.

For about the last couple months I haven't been feeling well. I am often nauseated, have a loss of appetite, and random bouts of moderate to severe abdominal pain. Also, I felt feverish occasionally, although I only recently have had a thermometer handy.

I've been monitoring my fever the past coulple days and it seems that in the morning I have little to no fever at all (i.e. < 99.0), around midday I have a low-grade fever (i.e. 99.0 - 100.0), and at night I develop a high-grade fever (the past two nights I ran a fever of 101.3 and 101.7, and last week my fever was 102.3 one night.)

I have absolutely no symptoms other than what I've been experiencing with Crohn's (nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, fatigue), and even when I am running a moderate fever I don't really notice it.

Obviously my doctor has me scheduled for several tests (x-rays, blood test, urine test), but I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience? Are these fevers normal with active Crohn's or the use of Pentasa?

My doctor seemed concerned that I was running a high-grade fever, but also told me that Crohn's can produce such a fever so I'm a bit confused.

Thanks for any information you are willing to share.

I do get fevers occasionally. It's all a part of the disease

Last time was yesterday night. I was semi-delirious all night.

I think if you are running a fever it indicates an infection in the body. So in addition to Crohn's you could have some type of bacterial infection too.

Before I was treated with prednisone I used to wake up sweaty every single night and I was told it was because of fevers which were related to the disease were spiking but only in the middle of the night.

Are you waking up with the sweats as well as the fevers?
