Crohn's, maybe

Hi my name is Dianne and my specialist told me I was in the early stages of Crohn's. My dieticien put me on a No fibre diet, I had to go back to eating all whites, like rice, bread pasta just as my hubby and I got used to all brown foods. This is not working as I am putting on weight like crazy and I am over-weight as it is, so I pulled my self off. I never lost a pound. Can someone help me try to put a diet together.
Thanks! :)

Welcome to the Dianne. Are you on any meds? The Diet, fitness and supplements section has Tonnes of information for you. It's trial and error for all of us when it comes to food, keep a food journal to discover whats working and whats not. It's not about weight it's about health and feeling good. I make rice bread-its good. Cook all vegies to mush and keep the water to add to whatever else I make that needs water, that way I get all the nutrition from the vegies. My biggest change was avoiding anything that I don't prepare, if it comes from a box or bag, I don't eat it. And get all your vitamin and mineral levels checked so you know if you are lacking. B12, iron, folate, calcium, vit d, magnesium, soduim and potassium seem to be common culprits in not feeling 100%. Keep searching, you will find a happy balance.

Usually people who have weight problems have ulcerative colitis and not Crohns, Crohns usually has the opposite issue which trust me is not any better as losing 5 pounds can cause some big health issues. The way I like to think of it is, if you have to cut out foods that you are not allergic to then your disease is not under control. Sure there will always be a few things we just cannot digest but if you have to eat only a certain type of food in order to feel relief there is still more you can do with medications, supplements, lifestyle change. Have you setup an exercise routine yet? I personally recommend a treadmill I love mine and it was the best thing I could have bought. As far as a diet I am a firm believer in quality over quantity, if you incorporate really rich foods that satisfy your pallet while keeping your snacking to a minimum and portion size small combined with exercise is a pretty good start I think.

Thank you to all that responded! I saw my family physician yesterday and I asked him to confirm if I have Crohn's Disease OR Ulcerative Colitis?? He is contracting my specialists to find out for sure. I am not on any meds as yet!
I am probably going to have to write in a journal to see what affects me more. I will let you all know what I hear from my doctor but thanks again!
