My Support Groups:
Dr Potts is not everyone's cup of tea. He can be abrupt, is very direct and has a wicked sense of humour. But I like that. He doesn't beat about the bush and has been very understanding about my situation - living very remotely from the hospital. He is part of a very good integrated team at the hospital which includes surgeons, dieticians and an IBD nurse as well as the GIs.

I have only recently been put under the care of Dr Potts and I have to say I am quite impressed with his knowledge and manner. He is very positive and has raised my hopes for the treatment and management of the disease. One of the biggest things you can do to try and help in the management of the disease and it's easier said than done is to have a positive outlook and believe you can cope with it. I've had Crohn's Disease for 32 years and hopefully my attitude has helped me as well as others connected with me. Sometimes the people close to you have the hardest role to play, you have the disease and you cope in your own way and the partner has the hardest role not knowing exactly what is going on, and if you are fortunate enough to have a partner that can cope it makes it so much more bearable. I know how lucky I have been to have an amazing family and friends that have pulled me through some tough times. So make the most of the times when you are fit and healthy and don't waste a minute of such precious times. I forgot to add that Dr Potts is part of as a team as the previous post alluded to that have some amazing caring individuals. I was under the care of Dr Younger who is also a very competent and caring professional, and my surgery was carried out by a caring, gifted Surgeon Professor Watson and his team. I was also fortunate to have been looked after by David Armour and Lesley Mann the IBD Specialist nurses who do an amazing job and to whom I owe a lot and lastly the Stoma nurses who fortunately I escaped there grasp this time!!
