Help MRI to diagnose crohn's ?

Hi all my new gi ( fab woman needs a medal ! ) Has been ummimg and ahhhing on whether I have some bowel disease or not , I have anal skin tags , usual crohn's symptoms , raised calprotecting , and some imflammtion in scope but biopsys negative , she mentioned trialing a drug but nhs likes thing justified I think , she is now sending me for an mri ,wat can this show up ? Thanks foer readin x

MRI can show inflammation in the small bowel, but has some limitations. If inflammation is not present it doesn't mean it's never present, for one. Also the MRI/MRE is prone to false positives due to movement artifacting. Your GI will know all of this, though.

It's good to have as much imaging/diagnostic testing done as possible when looking for a diagnosis. You should definitely have the test.

hello Fosterschick,
I was trying to do some research on your question, but I fell short. I am going to look around some more to see if I can find a reliable source but I wanted to respond.
if the previous inflamation had caused scar tissue; which is the body's natural way of healing; there might be evidence of inflammation in a MRI. I am not sure how likely it is that scar tissue shows up in an MRI and that is what I am trying to find. If anyone knows the answer to this question please jump in!
Do you know if there was an evidence of inflammation in your colonoscopy?
