My story

Hi to everyone,:ghug:
I was diagnosed with crohns at age 18 had really bad time of it in and out of hospital nearly died twice due to complications, after a long time on steroids :hallo3: which was given intravenous as last resort for 6 wks finally went in remission :ylol:.then after the birth of my son at age 26 all hell broke loose in the form of fistulas was having them drained and curated every 2 wks under general anesthetic, for about 6 months.they then settled down for a couple of years then were back :ymad::ymad::ymad:.was sent to specialist who said an illeostomy was only way to help omg I was 30 confused2: and scared shitliss, anyway the dreaded day came and I had my surgery, woke up and thought what the hell have they done to me.thank god for morphine:5 days later I was home after been taught how to change bag etc.the ille changed my life although I still know every toilet in a 100 mile radius:yrolleyes:,I've had some very trying times ie bag popping in the pub:eek: on a road trip:eek: in bed
I've since found right bags for me now as I'm very active,I work as a domestic at
Our hospital and ride my horse every chance I can.Im now 46 still going strong.

Jo-B1,
I also had a ilyostomy after one of my surgerys, it wasn't planed , i woke up and there it was.

I had it reversed after 9 months and had a flair 2 months after the reversal. I like my bag, I could do anything I wanted, could eat anything I wanted and I felt the best I ever had since I was told I had crohns.

Welcome to the foru, you will find this place a good source of support.

Hello there :)

I'm still relatively new to Crohns and am still trying to come to terms with what it brings, I've been scared about the thought of any kind of bag but your story has helped me realize I don't need to be scared, thank you for sharing with us :) I love to hear that you work and are active, it inspires me to try as well.

I'm so glad you joined the forum and hope you keep in touch. Good luck and best wishes. :ghug:
