Lymphoid hyperplasia

I've just received my daughter's pathology from recent scopes and "reactive lymphoid hyperplasia" was found in the TI. Does anyone have any clue as to what this could be? I've done some googling but can't seem to find much.

There is this on the wiki http://www.crohnsforum.com/wiki/Nodu...id-Hyperplasia

Many children show prominent nodular lymphoid hyperplasia that may be considered normal in the small bowel especially, I believe. If the endoscoper was a pediatric GI, s/he would know what's normal in a child but an adult gi might not. What did the endoscoper tell you after the scope?

http://journals.lww.com/jpgn/fulltex...rminal.52.aspx this abstract says "Lymphoid hyperplasia was a constant feature in non-IBD patients. It was prominent and even exaggerated in children with allergy (sometimes involving also the colon) and in patients with infectious ileo-colitis due to Yersinia enterocolitica. On the contrary lymphoid hyperplasia was strikingly either absent or very modest in children with Crohn's disease on steroid treatment but also some cases before starting treatment. A normal lymphoid hyperplasia reappeared in one child with ulcerative colitis in remission, after several years of heavy steroid treatment."

Thanks for replying xmdmom, I'll read over the links.
We're at a teaching hospital and the fellow who scoped her spoke to us for about 30 seconds and didn't mention it then ran away. Her GI is difficult to pin down and I'm sure she won't think this is something worth contacting her for. They are all pediatric drs though. It came up in the path, so I guess it's pathologically significant enough to mention but glad to know it's probably not serious.

I found the same thing as xmdmom - but I also looked them up separate "lymphoid" and then "hyperplasia".... I do not remember if they ever put a name to it, but when I read them separately it sounds like what my son had when he was first diagnosed. He was actually have a lot of pain in his abdomen near his liver area. So they decided to do a sono and that led to a variety of other tests. In the end all was well, it just showed his body was fighting off infection/bacteria? from the Crohn's - and he got some really good tests along the way. Scary going through the tests, nice to know it was normal for him.

Still worth getting clarification from the doctors... I hope there the rest of the labs were good!

Thanks Shell. I've read that it can present with pain, but luckily my daughter does not have any of that usually. It appears it's benign by most accounts, I'm still a little worried since she's due to start remicade and any lymph abnormalities are slightly frightening. I'll pass it by her GI, who is likely to brush it off. The rest of her scope was "good" in that it showed UC throughout her colon (!) but no sign of CD (this is good because surgery may be in our future).
Thanks again.

Thanks, I'll look it up now.
For those whose kids have had this come up, do they have allergies? If so, which types? Looks like it could be related.
