Yogourmet too hot?

Hi guys I got my yogourmet in the mail yesterday and am using it, three times throughout the 24 hours fermentation period ive opened the outer lid just enough to stick my thermometer in and it reads around 117 how do you guys cool it down a bit?

I was thinking of just removing the outter top as it doesnt do much (it seeems) besides keep the heat inside....

also is this yogurt not going to have the good side effects ?
