Anyone else 5-as a intolerant?

Salofalk and mesalazine both gave me bad cramps, diarrhea , fever, shortness of breath, chest pain etc. Has anyone else experienced this? My doctor has pretty much no game plan after my prednisone is finished. I will have been on it 4 months. I am down to 2 pills a day so will be hooped in 2 weeks. What have you done?
I am trying to research everything/ anything supplement and alternative wise.
(Bone broth, juicing, manetec brand supplements)

Hi GI Jane. it really depends on how severe your colitis is. If it is mild, you could try VSL3 or E. coli nissle, or perhaps try topical 5ASA if you only have distal disease which you might tolerate more than the oral form. However, if it is more severe, you'd be better on a thiopurine (6MP or Imuran).

Best wishes.
