How to deal with Crohn's Disease related abdominal pain

ok i went o the hopspital on wednsday night and was there untill 11. they said i was having a flair but because i was already on pred they couldnt do anything for me and the couldnt admit me for pain control like bronsen does. so they sent me home with 500mg vicodin which does NOTHING even when they gave me iv diloded it didnt help the pain. so anyway they sent me home. well the pain only got worse my mom even told me to take 2 of the vicodin at once and that didnt even help.

so last night she had me go back to the hospital and we sat in the waiting room untill like 9 and we went at 4. its rediculus! so they got me back and did blood and an iv. th dr was nice and started me off with 2mg fentynol whick didnt help so a little later he gave me torodol and benydril(i think they were just trying to knock me out then) but that didnt do anything eather so they gave me 1mg of diloded and that helped a little but not much m y pain level was still like a 9 and the dr comes back with a perscriptian or bentynol? i think weve not gone to get it yet. and a shot of iv steriroids. then sent me home. i was up all last night which we didnt get home till 11 30 but i still couldnt sleep. which is y im up now i decided to come on here and see what to do.

i have an appointment with my gi on the 5th but he hates pianmeds and the vicodin doesnt work and bchs wont admit me for pain control and ive eaten nothing but crackers for 5 days and then i can only eat 2 or 3 at a time because i get a sharp pain in my bell. and im having bm 10-11 times a day and my moms worried i will get dehydrated and theres nothing left we can do unless we wanna make the 2hr drive to bronsen hospital and hope they admit me but we cant do that because the person who gives us a ride (we dont have a car) has to take care of their nices baby because she is incompitent she has 3 other kids my grandma watches and my grandma is the one who gives us a ride. which i hate because onetime i was in epic pain and she didnt come get me until 3 hrs after we called and i said about time and she told me not to get an attitude or she will turn the car aaround. god she pisses me off!

ok sorry this is turning into a rant but i cant take the pain anylonger and i dont know what to do please help and give me some idea!!!

Have you thought about calling your GI doc to see if he will do a direct admit.
Did they do any blood work or a CT scan to see if something is showing up abnormal. Normally your white blood cells would be abnormal and your sed rate
would be high. I would probably call my GI doc and follow his advice. Maybe he will
say go take that ride. You certainly need relief.
Good Luck

aw spoon im sorry youre in so much pain and cant get anything done to help. i really wish youre doctors would listen to you.
maybe demand other tests?
if it really hurts that badly and you think something is wrong well you know your body better than anyone, i say that all the time. demand that they figure out what is wrong before it turns into an emergency if you think thats gonna happen. if you really dont like your doc, can you look for a new one? you need someone whos gonna take care of you and listen.
good luck let us know what happens.

ps nice pic! is that a rat? or mouse? lol someone i know has a rat and she had a little leash for it LOL! it was funny.

yea so my dr office called back and they cant do anything for me on the weekend they said just to go back to the er but the er cant do ne thing if my blood is ok but they did the ct and said i am having a flair but theres nothing they can do im in costant pain ive made my self like 3 cocktails with vicodin xannax flexaryl and fynagrin and that only takes the edge off i told my mom i wanna go to bronsen and she wont ask my grandma to do that and she wont even ask my grandma for a heating pad for my back. im exausted because i cant sleep maybe 2 hrs a night if im lucky and i cant eat anything even when i drink now it hurts and theres nothing anyone will do. and i cant get a new dr because madicade wont cover any others in battle creek and my family wont drive me any where else. i dont know im about to take like 4 ambion just to knock myself out so i can get some sleep and relief because i cant do this ne more it hurts and no one will listen!
i would go back to battlecreeks hospital for the 3rd time but ill just sit n the waiting room for 4 hours just to get more needle holes when i already look like a junkie and then they will say my blood looks normal and they cant adit me for pain control like bronsen does. is there ne way to make your blood abnormal because i will try ne thing right now!

and its a rat kello his name is bobobo...he died a few days ago. im just havin one helluva time with stuff right now.

thanx i think it helped i finally talked my mom into taking me to bronson and they did admit me at like 11 last night but at least they somewhat controlled the pain. but they also put me on an clear liquid diet which sux but imma have to do it if it makes me feel better. also they said that my dr will be coming in to see me and it will give me a chance to give him the letter i wrote a while back when i was doing my project. and sorry for ranting and complaining but i didnt know whatt to do. im not sure what all they will have me do in here. they already did my blood like 3 times and i have an iv and theyre giving me steriroids thru it and pain meds. so i have a new question...if i sneak a little bit of food here and there will it make too big of a difference because im hungry now that my pain is down and ive not eatten in a few days. my mom said she would sneak stuff up but idk if its a good idea or not. and thanx for all the support it really helps to come on here when you have no idea what to do. im very greatful to you all^.^

I am glad you finally got admitted. Jeese I am glad you got relief. There is nothing
worse than horrible horrible pain. I would probably not sneak anything to eat just now. The pain meds have probably masked what is going on wait to see your GI
doc or a surgeon b/c you don't want to eat food if you need to have an operation.
Let them find out the source of your pain first. Sometimes your bowel needs a rest. But I am so glad you got relief.

oh yea! my dr just came in and he has a few tests for me to do tomarrow, he wans me to do the small bowel thing where you drink the barium and i think he may want to do another colonoscopy but im not sure he didnt really say. so i thought i would tell you so you would no whats happening if you were wondering.

Ok the barium enema with small bowel follow thru will let him know how many layers of the bowel are involved. But before you do the colonoscope you will have
to take the prep b/c the barium has to be cleared out of your colon. So it doesn't sound like you'll be eating for awhile but you can have a frozen popsicle or jello on clear liquids. Hang in there

no its not the enema! i would NOT wanna do that. ive done this one before its where you drink it and thats it. and they said i cant have a popsicle! and im not sure if he is going to do the colonoscopy or not he just asked when my last one was and i told him it was about a year ago so i think he might do one but he hasnt told me if he is or not. but im totally gonna ask for a popsicle next time the nurse comes in ^.^

ok it must be the one where you drink the barium and they watch it go thru it still gives them the same info. I hope you get your popsicle soon.

aw good luck with it all Tabathe.. i know it sucks being in hospital but this time it sounds like exactly the place you need to be... and i also know that feeling of wanting food so well! i used to hide my face under the blankets when they brought the meal trolley round for other patients while i was nil by mouth, coz i felt like crying! these days will pass tho, you'll soon be home and hopefully pain free and eating when and what you want. keep us posted!

hey spoon
sorry i missed your thread here earlier
hows everything going? i hope youve gotten to eat by now. but dont get too cranky with him! lol hes just doing whats best for you hopefully, and if you eat and then wind up needing another test, then itll take all that much LONGER cause then theyll have to wait till youre empty again. better to do it all in one shot.
im glad you finally got to the hospy though. as much as it sucks to be there, its where you need to be like Ding said. hopefully they will figure out whats going on with you and get some better treatments goin. at least theyve got your pain under control too, thats gotta feel good!
keep updating us!

yes it was much better with my pain under control! and they did all the tests and they came back saying i was having a flair up (duh) but it wasnt too severe so tthey kept me on a low residue diet instead of clear liquids so i did get some solid food in my belly. they sent me home earlier today but i still have to stay on the low residue diet. also they have me on 40mg pred for a week then 30mgs you get the idea. also they gave me 20 500mg vicodin which help butnot as much lol. but im not hurting as bad since they got everything under control mostly with the iv stuff. thanks for letting me vent some here it really does help! but for now im just glad to be home and able to sleep in my nice and comfy bed!^-^ and i still have my appt. with my gi on the 5th and when he came into the hospital to see me i gave him the letter i wrote when i was doing my project. so im hoping that when i go to see him the 5th he will eaither have a note for me with the answers to my questions or will talk to me about them. ill let you guys no what happens then. thanks for the support!!!^-^

ok sorry to not post but for a graduation present me and my mom both got new computers and have been hooking them up and everything. anyway my appt with my gi was canceled and reschedualed to the 27th i think... but he thought because he just saw me in the hospital i wouldnt need to be seen on the 5th so yea....but i did get this big pack of things in the mail about remicade and it sounds better then taking all these pills a day but i dont think my cd is bad enugh for it i would ask my gi but he doensnt like to use ne thing other than pentasa and pred so he wouldnt go for it. but with the thing i got in the mail i send in a lil card thing and get a free issue of the ccfa mag and info on some of the gi's in my area so when that gets sent to me hopefully i will know more! talk to you all soon and if you have any suggestions about the remicade please let me know!
