New to the forum - My story

Hi Everyone
So I'm very new to the blogging thing so bare with me.....
I'm 22 years old and I was Diagnosed with Crohn's disease in October 2012. I was sick for about 8 months before that and my GP didn't know what was wrong with me. When I finally had that dreaded colonoscopy I was so relieved to find out that it wasn't just in my head. I was put on big doses of Prednisone and was feeling really good. Started on Imuran and Salofalk after I first saw my Gastroenterologist. I wasn't getting any better with these and was just about to start Humira but things started to turn around. I was feeling a little bit better but still not 100%. I thought this was normal and I would be feeling crappy for the rest of my life. I had another routine colonoscopy in January this year and found that my large bowel was really good but my terminal illium was still inflamed and my wall had thickened. My Imuran has been increased but my specialist is now looking at Humira again.
I tried to start University at the start of the month but had a pretty big flare up due to the stress of balancing working 4 days per week, uni work and home life. So I'm putting that on hold for the time being. Hoping to get better ASAP..I'm so sick of being sick...

Hi ! Glade your here. At times you will feel good. 100% can come with remission. This disease is funny. In that everybody gots something alike or different. But we are all here good or bad! Ask away anything loads of help here! And support. Maria

Hi! I'm new here too. I'm the same age as you and can understand your struggle. It is not easy trying to balance your work life balance with a disease that doesn't cope well with stress. BUT you will get there :) keep smiling and don't worry the doctors will try their best with your interest at heart! I started humira 4 months ago x

Your in the best place now and welcome. I am not new but luckily havent had too bad a dose of but know that stress is a big issue. Dont give up on Uni, I am in my third year and finish in a few weeks. The hardest thing is balancing it all and funnily enough only yesterday and today my stomach is giving a little cry out from exhaustion I think. Managing the stress can be stressful in itself but it can be done. One day at a time and dont forget there is always someone on here to talk to and we are all rooting for you and each other. Best of luck

I am new here too, just joined today. Love your name... I have a 20 year old daughter named Meghan. I am having colonscopy and biopsies tomorrow to see if I have microscopic colitis.
