Default IBD = No Seeds!

How many with IBD, Crohn's, or other have been told to avoid eating anything with seeds, such as strawberries, sesame seeds, etc?
I have always been told not to eat them because they could stick in the lining of the intestine and irritate it or cause a flare.

I know it's bad, but I can't resist fresh strawberries from the field.

I try to avoid seeds as much as possible. I know it sounds crazy, but I cut the seeds off of my strawberries. It is time consuming, but not as hard as you may think. Cut if the stem and the tip of the strawberry. Then thinly slice the outside off. I find they are even sweeter without the seeds for some reason.

Sadly, I wasn't told to avoid anything. I wasn't told to eat certain things and not others and I wasn't told to do certain things and not others. I was pretty much just told I have Crohn's and you're going to take Pentasa and Flagyl. And now Humira.

I have no problem with strawberries... as long as I don't eat too many. My last flare was set off by a bag of peanuts... but I was building up to it and I think the nuts were just the final straw!

I was told I had no food restrictions. <shrug>
Haven't had any big problems with any foods as of yet.

I was told avoid grapefruit because it contains a chemical that interferes with my Crohn's meds. I've had two GIs and they both told me that if a particular food bothered me that I'd probably be able to figure it out on my own and that until I noticed a problem I could eat whatever I wanted.

I ate a massive amount of sunflower seeds one day and it caused a bit of cramping, but other days I eat small amounts and it has no effect. Other than that, whenever I eat "large" portions of food in general it will cause me to cramp.
