It really depends on what you are using as to how annoying it can be! My first prep wasn't very fun (I had to drink the Miralax solution with in 2 hours and take laxatives starting 2 days prior), but my second prep - while I had to stay up all night to drink the stuff - wasn't as harsh as the first time around (I had 6+ hours to drink the Miralax solution and there were no laxatives involved). I guess it just depends on your doctor and what they require for you to take.
Prepping isn't the greatest thing in the world, but it's got to be done! Before my first colonoscopy, I was more worried about the actual procedure than the prep and I was told the prep is worse than the procedure....which I now completely agree with! And in reality the prep is not that bad...not that it's something I would like to at all experience on a regular basis, but don't worry too much about it! You'll get through it and be fine!

Ah the good ol prep. Just make a game out of it. bet your family how many times you will be on the can. The one closest to the actual count wins the pot, no pun intended. Really, the prep does suck. Just know the procedure is pretty easy,. Make sure they put you out or it will be a little painful. Good Luck!

The prep is definitely the worst, but the procedure itself is no big deal. You get to take a nice little nap.

Ahh,the delights of KleenPrep. The best advice I can give you is to stay VERY close to a toilet and make sure no one else is going to be wanting to use it.

What she said. The preps are generally pretty horrible tasting; my advice is to drink them as fast as you can (don't let it linger in your mouth) and rinse your mouth out after. But the procedure itself is generally pretty easy.

Thank you all for your replies and support

My prep involves taking 9 senna tablets at 12 noon tomorrow, then on thursday I ave got to drink citramag. once at 3pm then at 7.30pm.

While I am also not looking forward to the scope, I am being sedated, and I'm keeping in mind what I have already read on this forum and what you have all replied that it's not as bad as the prep.

Saying that when I've got the prep over with I'm sure I'll be pooping myself (no pun intended) about the scope

Hi I had my second colonoscopy three weeks ago and had to take the dreaded"kleen prep"!:-o.i was allowed to put lime cordial in mine(check with your dr if you allowed)and also found drinking it through a straw with small sips of water inbetween helped:-D.it not pleasant but worth it if you can get some answers.good luck and keep us posted:-)xx
