My Support Groups:
It's usually a sign of inflammation, so I would think instead it's a sign of IBD, or some other kind of acute inflammation.

I'm in the exact same situation. Been told I have inflammatory bowel disease, some doctors even go so far as to say its unofficial crohns but getting treatment or access to services is impossible despite having severe symptoms. GI docs not really interested, my rheumatologist has done most/all of the work.

I think if it's over 150 it's not ibs, it's something inflammatory. Over 50 is abnormal though.

IBS would not create inflammation so to answer your question no.

When is your appointment?

I am seeing the GI consultant this coming Tuesday. My gp tested my calprotectin and it was 153 or 156 can't remember the exact number.
