Need a little engagement.

I was diagnosed with UC in 2010, I hadn't had any of the symptoms (other then bleeding and slight constipation) till they put me on meds (asacol, steroids, pain meds, and anti-nausea). I got so sick I was hospitalized for dehydration, all my doctor wanted to do was up my steroids. I then had a friend, referred me to a nutritionist who specialized in digestive issues. I got off ALL the meds and went full natural (eating, supplements, and exercises). I was a million times better in 3 months!!! Shortly, after this I moved to a new city, 2 hours away from my wonderful nutritionist. I was in remission for almost 2 years, I had stopped going to her as the cost to travel and visit fees, were not doable on my income. I noticed about 3 weeks that I was starting to have slight bleeding as I did in 2010, again no other symptoms. I have been trying to reach out to find help and it seems, none of the nutritionist understand how to help me (mostly deal with weight lose). I have contacted my nutritionist for a phone consult this week, but I am worried her answer will be to come see her. I have been working to help my bleeding with things she taught me and am trying other natural remedies, I have found. I have a wonderful boyfriend, who truly tries to be there for me as much as he can but he doesn't fully understand what it is I am going through (he hasn't been there from the start). I am just looking for a little engagement and maybe some advices on natural remedies anyone has found useful for them. I do not eat any dairy products has they are a huge trigger for me and stay away from most grains.

Hi Lindsey. I too don't have a lot of advice for you. I do take a supplement, but I also use pharmaceuticals. I'm glad a natural approach generally works for you.

I'm curious about something. I assume that once you and your nutritionist have established what works for you (what supplements to take, what foods to avoid), why would you need to continue to see them? And why the change in your symptoms; has your disease changed and you need to adjust your diet accordingly?

Or am just showing my complete ignorance with my questions?

Hi, from what you have said it sounds as though the paleo diet is what your nutritionist was basing advice on so may well be worth researching that a little more.
