As far back as I can remember I've always had what I classed as a 'Funny Tummy'. I'd have bouts of diarrhea, vomiting, pain and chills but it would pass. But in 2011 the pain and diarrhea was impacting on my life too much and I was referred to a GI specialist. As I have Crohn's and UC in my family, (not immediate though) this was what GI tested for but ALL came back negative and I was sent on my way with no answers just told to take Metamucil.
November 2013 I was hospitalized for 2 weeks due to said symptoms and had a laprascopy done but it was all clear, again I was sent home with no answers. By March 2014 I had lost 60% of my body mass, was anemic and my potassium, phosphate and B12 levels were dangerously low so back into hospital. After every test imaginable I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis and had a J-Tube inserted for nutritional support, I wish I could say that this was the ending to my story but I am still plagued by my original symptoms. I'm not a doctor as my GI reminds me but I know that bloody diarrhea, joint pain, sore eyes, mouth ulcers, excruciating right low abdo pain and fatigue are NOT symptoms of Gastroparesis. I'm frustrated and would really like to be able to get out of the bathroom once and a while and not have this pain that literally drops me to my knees.
I'm glad I found this forum and thank you to all who have shared their experiences, diagnosed or not.
Cheers
