Humira side effect? Not sure

Good morning everyone. Not sure if the following is caused my humira, let me know what you think. I see my GI in a few weeks and will ask.

About one year after starting humira, I did something to my back and caused my sciatic nerve to be aggregated, I still have issues with it and mild numbness. Then about a year after that, the outside of my hands and baby finger would go numb if I bent my elbows too long or leaned on my elbows. Now this weeks have noticed my hands and other fingers have numbness when bending my elbow too much. For example, if I sit at my desk at work with my elbows rested on the desk, the numbness gets worse, as soon as I straighten my arm it starts to go away. I went to a neurologist the first time my elbows and baby finger went numb, she said for my sciatic nerve I should strengthen my core muscles, and for my elbows she did a nerve test which showed those nerves to be extra sensitive and she told me to try not to bend so much and possibly try physio. But it puzzles me that it seems to be getting worse?

Any thoughts? Anyone experience this?

The symptoms sound like a pinched ulnar nerve, I've had one on and off most of my adult life from bad posture while typing or writing. It sounds like it could be from the same source - you'd need to talk to your neurologist about testing to be sure though.

I'm thinking of asking my GI to refer me to someone to look into it? Or should I ask my Family dr?

If it's a pinched ulnar nerve they're going to tell you to get better posture or wearing something on your elbow.

The neuro I saw for the elbow didn't feel the need to see me again, I think I would have to be referred again

Hi Lam123. Generally a General Practitioner will refer you to other specialists. It sounds like Carpal Tunnel to me. I have it, diagnosed by my Rheumatologist. Wrapping your wrists at night to keep them straight is supposed to help yet you should explain these symptoms to your regular doctor so they can refer you to a specialist. Good luck and let us know how your GI appointment goes.

I have had a similar issue, my doctor diagnosed it as cubital (sp) tunnel.....an issue as stated already with the ulnar nerve. I had to wear an arm splint for a while when I was sleeping. I do still get it at times but am able to relieve it by changing positions.
