Ayurveda and crohns

Dear all,

I am a crohns patient for the past 15 years(now 30). Was diagnosed with crohns in the 10th grade! With the support of my love ones and the grace of the almighty I was able to complete my schooling, complete my engineering in computer science and worked with the worlds leading companies. I'm married and is blessed with a lovely daughter.I've been on mesacol , Azoran then again pentasa and Azoran with on n off gupisone whenever there is a relapse. Of late crohns completely out of control. Every 3 months I'm forced to take steroids and I'm sick and tired of of the medicines side effects. I'm so tired , can't eat a thing and lost a lot of weight. The major issue with me is intestinal constrictions and severe constipation. I simply can't eat a thing. This February, I had ballon dilation to give me relief from constriction in the rectal area. It did bring temp relief.

I'm looking for options in Ayurveda. Since I'm from South india , residing in UAE, I have easy access to Ayurveda. I need to knw how Ayurveda has worked for crohns patients. Also need to knw how the treatment is carried out? Is allopathy meds allowed while on Ayurveda?

I've seen a lot of posts on Ayurveda but dint see any definite answer on how this treatment is carried out , the time it wud take etc.

Anyone with the issues with issues with constrictions and had a relief from Ayurveda, I would love to hear from you.

Please get back! Desperate to get back to enjoying and excelling in life!

Thanks david.

There are lots of recommendations for Ayurveda, but no detail on what sort of treatment methods were used...eg, the medicines, yoga, meditation, diet??

Mars, I'm afraid that's not my area of expertise. What I CAN say is that when it comes to Crohn's disease, I'm a big fan of the shotgun approach to treatment. What I mean by this is your traditional meds under the supervision of a highly competent GI, Ayurvedic meds if you want. And then yes on yoga, yes on meditation, yes on dietary changes, etc. Do it all.
