Remicade Update

So my son had his first infusion yesterday. So far, so good. He's back at school today and I'm hoping he feels ok to get through the day...and his after school activity!

They weighed him and measured at the start of the appt. he gained 1 pound since our last GI visit a month ago and grew 3/4 of an inch! For him, this is great, almost makes me think the Pentasa was starting to work? But, his blood work from yesterday did still show very high inflammation markers, so I'm hoping the remicade will take care of that and he can finally start showing some real growth.

Anyway, just wanted to post this quick update....thanks again to you all for your support and wisdom.

So glad you are seeing growth and weight gain. Since he had the test before infusion, hopefully remicade is working to bring the inflammation down by now. Let us know how he is doing on his next test.

So fab to hear about the growth and weight gain!

Sending loads of luck that the Remicade is the icing on the cake and your lad now goes from strength to strength, bless him.

Good Luck!

Hoping your next post says you had to go shopping for bigger clothes! DS had a big growth spurt after starting Remi, then it tapered a bit, but took off again at the one year mark.

I hope things continue to go well...

We've had at least an inch of growth at each infusion check in so 6" over a years time, last 8 weeks it was 2". It's just been steady once he took off after about 4 months. Weight came first then height.
Get ready to go shopping.
