Undianosed

many people say they went undiagnosed for many decades. What made you decide to seek treatment? was it a flare up which finally caused you to be diagnosed?

When people are undiagnosed for a long time, it may well not be from choice. People have digestive symptoms, and seek a diagnosis (usually diagnosis rather than treatment, as diagnosis is needed first), go through a lot of testing but get negative test results. That's quite a common situation among the undiagnosed on this forum.

but how can you go undiagnosed for decades without any worsening? I thought it spreads unless you get treated as soon as possible?

You mean people who end up eventually being diagnosed with Crohn's? There are many conditions which cause digestive symptoms. If someone has Crohn's and is seeking a diagnosis and going through tests, it's unlikely they'll go for decades without diagnosis. Untreated Crohn's could well get worse.
