Hey just stumbled on the forums by chance and thought id sign up and say hi

Im 28
i live in Ireland
Ive had Crohns since i was 14

Im currently on remicade (sp) Its going great for me so far
But the funding for the treatment has ended and dont think im getting it again.

Welcome to the forum? The funding is ending? How does that work out there? Just curious since we might be headed in the government funded healthcare some day.
 
Wow, they're going to cut the funding for your remicade? That's dreadful. Is it because NICE (national institute of clinical excellence) say it's too expensive?
 
hi folks thanks for the welcome

I don't know the full details as of yet, ive to see my doc next month

basically the government don't think crohns is a serious enough illness
to warrant such funding for remicade.
My doc has been fighting this very hard and appealing my case to try and
get further funding but its not looking good.

It sucks because the treatment has been working great for me.

:stinks: That is so wrong!!! I'm sure the doctors really like it when the government tells them essentially they don't know what the best treatment is for their patients. FRUSTRATION.
