Getting fed up :'(

I can't eat anything without getting severe abdominal pain and then the vomiting starts. My stomach feels like it has something hard in it when this pain occurs and there's a loud noise coming from there. The pains that bad it's giving me goosebumps. I didn't eat all day today until 2 pm when I had a bowl of soup and at 4 the pain and grumbling started, then the vomiting. I really don't know what's causing this to happen or what the solution is that the hospital specialists will suggest. I've just had enough now of spending days at a time in bed incapacitated through this horrible disease :'(. Anyone got any suggestions as to what could be going on in my body? My crohns is in the small bowel only xxx

No I've not really been eating much, over Weekend I didn't eat at all then on Monday I had meat and some vegetables. Tuesday, just a sandwich then today the soup. Whats dietary elimination? I was still having the pains after drinking cups of tea and water.

So sorry you're having such troubles!!!!

Do you know if you have narrowings/strictures/etc? Had any recent scans/tests to check for them or blockages?

Also, there's a really interesting diet called "IBD Aid" - here's a thread, but if you search the forum there are lots more: https://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=71853 Last I heard, this diet has a good track record with helping to lessen symptoms (not a replacement for treatment, but in addition to it).

No never had anything to look for strictures or anything, I'll have a look at the diet. Can't wait to see these specialists on Monday there's something definitely wrong with me.

Many of us have symptoms triggered by diet, and even with medication have to eat carefully in order to avoid them.

For many wheat is a huge trigger, as well as other complex carbs like oats, and wheat-like grains like barley and rye.

Other common triggers include potatoes and other nightshades, spicy foods, nuts, personally I found canola and corn oil a major contributor in vomiting.

It can take a long time of total exclusion of trigger foods to truly know if they are a cause, which is why there's special elimination diets that break you down to the most simple diet least likely to have any triggers and reintroduce foods slowly.

Wheat can also be hiding in many places people don't expect when first going gluten free such as bouillon cubes used in soup.

Hi Kerry!

Did your GP get you that urgent appointment to see your consultant? Have you been back to A&E?

What did your GP say about your continuing vomiting and your difficulty keeping even fluids down?

I really do think that's a concern and that might mean you need to go back to A&E but I know that you said that you didn't get much treatment there. Is there a different hospital that you can go to?

As I said before I do think that your symptoms - pain, vomiting, loud bowel sounds - suggest a stricture but you would need imaging to know for sure and also to give an idea of whether it is predominantly scar tissue causing the stricture or inflammation.

I hope you are going to be able to see your consultant soon as your symptoms need proper investigation and targeted treatment.

Best of luck
