How to tell if im coming out of remission when i have an ostomy

im 39 yrs old and have had crohns for 21 years..I have had my colon removed as well as part of my small intestine...How can I tell if im coming out of remission? I am currently having cramping after I eat but im not sure if this is caused by too much scar tissue or from the illness itself.Any ideas?

Hi and welcome.

Do you see your GI on a regular basis? Annually.

Physical changes could be the clue.

Pain, fatigue, weight loss, etc.
It could show in your blood work first.
I'd suggest seeing your doctor, even your family doctor for some blood work.

Sending you my support.

Sounds like you need blood work and imaging - that's the only way for any of us to know what the disease is actually doing, whether we have an ostomy or not, as symptoms aren't reliable.

Hope you feel better soon. Good luck!

Hi folks. Iv had an ileostomy for 12 mths and recently had it reversed. Since about 2 days after having the stoma (hetty) done , i have had no pain at all.Even after reversal. Now i may just be darned lucky there. I would suggest you tell your doctor to check you and your meds are ok. Bloods and scans are the best way to check really as the others have said. Good luck and best wishes !! Mandy (uk)
