I stumbled on this and I'm now curious because it might explain my bad skin.
Humans naturally carry demodex mites, primarily in their eyelash follicles.
Those with compromised immune systems can reach pathogenic levels of demodex mites and it manifests in a number of ways including sebaceous plugs, rosacea, itching or crawling sensation of skin, chronic acne-like raised red bumps, infection and inflammation of the eyelids.
Therapeutic effectiveness is mixed but there's a number of products on the market specifically targeting / used for it.
OTC medicines include tea tree oil, alcohol, mustard and some other natural topicals.
Doctors are often reluctant to diagnose it in healthy individuals and frequently people claiming the symptoms are diagnosed with psychosis and put on anti-psych meds.
Crohn's patients, however, frequently have compromised immune systems.
Was wondering if anyone else has similar symptoms:
-red / itchy skin on scalp, face
-crawling sensations
-bumpy / elevated red skin
-flakiness
-discharge or excess sebaceous plugs
-infections or swelling of eyelids / around lashes
-rosacea
