What do you take for a headache?

Obviously Aleve, Motrin, ibuprofen, aspirin etc are out (they would all kill me). I take Tylenol (aka acetaminophen) when I get headaches which I highly suspect are coming from the Pentasa (Mesalamine) I take. However lately I've had problems with the acetaminophen as well, to the point I had to get back on Prednisone just to put down the flare/problems acetaminophen gave me from taking it once.

Does anyone take something different for headaches that does not tear up your stomach and is over the counter? I have Crohns so options limited obviously. Thank you!

My GI has told me that anything besides Tylenol can cause bleeding. You might call your doctor and tell them what is going on and ask for their advice.

I use the 4head stuff, like a menthol balm you rub on your forehead.

I feel perhaps its not a matter of what to take for a headache, but more a case of 'what to do'.

First and foremost, taking your standard headache tablets may not be the wisest choice. Headache & Flu counter meds operate by not removing or dealing with the issue but rather blocking signals of neurons and alike. This is madness on any level in my humble experience but more so when you experience Crohns or alike.

More than anything in the world, water is the first point of call. If possible, the best possible quality of bottled water and filter it if you can. If you have a water filter that operates on a vortex basis, even better. Ensure that drink from a glass and avoid drinking from plastic containers.

Adjust the lighting of your environment and reduce as much artificial lighting as possible and candle light & incense sticks are helpful for exciting neurons through aromatherapy.

Deep, slow and controlled breathing / meditation techniques and some light stretches if you feel up to it would be helpful.

Peace & Love Always
