Safest chewing gum brand?

What is the safest chewing gum for you?

Some of us are very sensitive to what they put in their mouthes so probably someone already done little "research" to determine which chewing gum brand gives less disturbance to the GI track. Thanks.

Personally I find the whole act of chewing gum troublesome as i'm not swallowing food, just air.

I don't know if there is such a thing but I might look for one was gluten free. On the other hand, I don't know what your food sensitivities are.

When I was told to bring chewing gum to the hospital(for stimulating the bowels post surgery). I started to read the ingredients on them. Almost all have BHT(a derivative of phenol which is banned in other countries) not to mention the fake sugars. I found Spry and Glee at Whole foods and some other health food stores. I've also tried Simply Gum but the "rabbit pellet look" turned me off. I don't chew gum often since it introduces air into the GI tract, but sometimes I do to help clean my teeth after eating something particularly sticky or smelly. Also, the natural sugar free gums use xylitol which is a FODMAP and I am sensitive to the sugar alcohol group of FODMAPS.

I just avoid sucralose containing brands. Sucralose does horrible things to me.

That said I'm not a fan of aspartame or sugar alcohols in any of them so I try to limit use to post-meals when I can't brush my teeth.

I've never seen gluten containing gum.

I'm not very sensitive in that aspect I think, but I use xylitol based chewing gum and seem to tolerate it so far, when chewing it in moderation.
