What vitamins etc with a NO vegetables diet

I have had Crohn's for 58 years now, and my one and only op was 38 years ago when all my large bowel was removed, with the exception of the rectum, and joined to the small intestine, which was, itself, shortened to cut out the active crohn's. (Hemi colectomy and ileo-rectal anastamosis)
I have had strictures at the sites of the various anastamosis for some years now, and am unable to eat most vegetables, even if well cooked (loss of nutrients) or chewed the 10 times. What I would like to know is are there any vitamin or dietary supplements that will give me the missing vitamins etc. from not being able to eat my 5 a day! What are the missing vitamins (A, E, D ???)
Thanks

Hello and welcome.I use Bioglan high nutrition powder from Holland and Barrett.I use mixed berry and cacoa, which also have the vits that you would get from most veggies. They do a green one,but I don't like it.I mix 2 tsps. with low fat milk and chia seeds. It's very tasty,a bit like a milk shake. You can get it on-line too.

You could take a carotenoid supplement i use carotenall by jarrow vitamins. These are very important nutrients in vegetables.
I find well cooked broc cauli and spinach easy for me to digest, and those are most important to get with anticancer properties. onions and garlic I use sparingly, but those are super healthy and also the most powerful cancer fighters.

Look into Juice Plus. They have fruit and veggie options and you can easily get your RDA plus more!

Put in your diet, it will tell you your micronutrient levels for the day and what you need to fill in.

For example, lets say you have a chicken breast, 3 eggs and a cup of rice. You're lowest on:
Vitamin C, E, D, K, calcium, iron and potassium.

I'd suggest supplementing for D, and Zinc, asking your doctor about Iron.

Potassium you can get from POM juice, it's loaded with the stuff. Vitamin C from orange juice.

Vitamin E you're going to find in oils, you can get supplements with natural oils in it like safflower oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed etc. You could but a bottle and drizzle it over whatever your eating.

What about if you're allergic to fruit and vegetables? I get anaphylactic shock whenever I eat (or even smell) rat fruit and vegetables

Hello JBMouse,
Welcome to the forum.
When I was on a liquid medical formula (enteral nutrition) without any solid food for several months, I had to ask a dietician to calculate what nutrients I was missing in the formula as I was on it for four months and had been really ill before starting the formula.
They ended up giving me liquid vitamins that I added to the formula. ( I think that they were concentrated liquid vitamins that they would add to TPN feeds.) I took them for several months after I was on the formula as well. You could ask your doctor's office how to obtain them and to refer you to a dietician to help you calculate what vitamins you need to take to supplement your current diet. You have to make sure that you don't take to much of certain vitamins as well.
