Just Diagnosed - Humor

Hi All,

Thank you for letting me join. I have just been diagnoses with moderate CD. After years of GI issues and everyone telling me it has to do with anxiety my primary doctor finally became concerned and sent me to a GI doctor. I lost 40 pounds in a year w/o trying to diet.

I first went to a GI doctor that I will only say was a piece of shi*t. He did more harm than good. I finally found a group of GI specialists for IBD. After my second colonoscopy and endoscopy in a matter of months; endless blood tests and stool samples I was officially diagnoses with CD this past week.

Currently I am only taking Uceris until the insurance approves Humira. I would love to hear some stories of others on it. I really do not know what to expect. My doctor highly recommends it. She is also having me do a Capsule Endoscopy next week to really see where the damage is in my GI tract.

My mother passed away from colon cancer so this has me concerned. I have to go for another colonoscopy six months after starting treatment to see if the medication is working. Right now my flare ups are not as bad as the past 6 months I was going through, where I couldn't eat or do anything.

I think part of it was stress related as I was miserable at my job and starting a new one. Since than I have felt better. Not 100% but I can now eat.

My goal and hope is that the medication works and I do not get any worse as my biggest fear is surgery. I honestly have no idea what to expect from this disease or treatment. The unknown is really scary.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to me.
